Getting several countries occupied by Germany, where people were shot, gassed and starved, to come together with Germany was pretty good work. Remember he did this in 11 years, whereas twice that time has passed since the GFA and the DUP cannot stomach an Irish Language Act.
If at first you don't succeed, then goto Plan B

Good? Yes. Very good? Massive achievement? Yes to all those.

A miracle? No. Dealing in miracles just makes the church look silly. No point asking to be taken seriously if dealing in this nonsense

dec

Maybe we could all pray to Robert Schuman that someone other than Dublin win the All Ireland football. That would surely be a miracle.

????

It's a church.  The whole thing is based on 'miracles'.

It's like saying a bank shouldn't deal in cash.

There definitely is cash though I have some in my pocket and can see it and feel it... it exists!

Miracles though?

It made sense when people couldn't communicate properly over long distances and Chinese whispers were taken to a different level but by and large people are a lot more informed now so probably best to change criteria for being a Saint I would have thought.

Attributing miracles to ordinary citizens when other non miraculous explanations can be given just makes the whole set up look ridiculous. The "looking ridiculous is what we do" mantra hardly explains or justifies the nonsense.

Seems like a strange hill to die on in terms of criticism of the church.

Miracles are what churches do.

Say your prayers to the big man in the sky and he will make things happen for you, in this life or the next.

It's their raison d'etre.
