The battle at the bottom.

Will the Gooch be back?

Many Down ones on here going?

Should be a good battle and bouyed by their win (also their traditon against the kingdom) I think Down might edge a bit closer to safety.

I expect  a step closer to division 2 for Kerry.

Good battle, kerry couldn't beat snow of a rope at the minute and look odds on to go down. Down should have to much in the tank for them. Is the game in Kerry? that be there only hope of a win!

Downs track record against Kerry has been great (100%) in championship games, but not so stellar in the National League (and friendlies, as in the opening of the Listowel pitch in the early 60's) - I think Kerry will be very hard to beat this weekend on their own turf and them wanting to come off the bottom of the table (or at least be joint bottom)
That awkward moment - Not sure if you do have free time or if you're just forgetting everything!

Anyone that thinks Down will have few problems coming out with 2 points in Killarney/Tralee are deluded. Kerry is full of good footballers and its not as if down are a force.
It would be great to get 2 wins, dont remember the last time we beat Kerry in the league. But it wont be easy, not with our defence, if donaghy is fit and starts on the edge of the square he will cause havoc under every high ball with our defence, which personally i dont really think has improved much but only championship will tell that. Could be like cork game.
Any radio station i can listen to this tomorrow night.

Donaghy is fit and starts in a full forward line with the two O'Sullivans which will certainly test Down. Marc O'Se has recovered from injury although his brother Tomas is obviosly suspended. Down are unchanged after the Mayo win.

Kerry (NFL V Down) - Brendan Kealy; Marc Ó Sé, Aidan O'Mahony, Shane Enright; Fionn Fitzgerald, Killian Young, Brian Maguire; Anthony Maher, Eoin Brosnan; Jonathan Lyne, Donnchadh Walsh, Johnny Buckley; Declan O'Sullivan, Kieran Donaghy, Darran O'Sullivan.

Kerry by five points!

Here's hoping anyhow.
Armagh, the one true love of a mans life.

Kerry by three in the end, and, although we rallied in the second half, it was apparently a poor enough performance. In fairness, McCartan seemed to have pulled something in the warm-up and dropped out, and both Mallon and Carr were unwell and needed to be replaced early. That meant that we had lost half of what had been emerging as a decent defence, and Kerry predictably took full advantage. A Down fan reported that Boyle, McArdle and McComiskey did well for us,  but we were generally off the pace. O'Hare missed some early frees but still finished with about 1-3.

Down won the second half but it was not enough to turn over the 7 point deficient at half time.
Although Kerry deserved to be in front at half time, the margin could have been less.  Donal O'Hare pushed 3 free kicks wide early on. But the most worrying/annoying thing was that 3 of Kerry's scores come directly from winning ball from Down's own kick out.
The Down half back line was missing in the first quarter and Carr and Mallan were eventually replaced by O'Hagan and Damian Turley. If the lads were not well, as Mourne Rover is reporting, perhaps it was foolish to let them start the game. Some or all of these reasons are why the game was lost in the first half.

If players werent well then the management team were dumb to start them. Down were well beat by an average  Kerry team. The guys on destination newry were saying Down brought everyone behind the ball when kerry were attacking then expected Benny to win a ball on his own upfornt when they broke the Kerry attack. 1 point in first half totally unexceptable. midfield won nothing according to DN. Gave away a lot of ball which has been a problem for down for a while.
Kerry deserved to win better team, well done.
Dublin getting beat last night was bad for Down, we could get an absolute tanking in Croker. Still think we will beat Kildare in Newry though.

Just home from Killarney last night after a good weekends craic after a poor performance . Down were dreadful all over the field and gave away possession time after time, missed easy frees and scorable chances to score 1p tin the 1st half is just not good enough. Players seemed afraid to have a shot more content to give it to someone else at stages when we lost possession we actually had players walking back to help out the defense walking back to help a defense that needs all the help it can get dreadful stuff. We had a goalkeeper who insisted to kick the ball down the middle to Anthony Maher from the start this is similar to what happened against Mayo wher he continually kicked the ball out to a mid field that is not winning the ball. Why keep doing this? I would say Kerry took the foot of the pedal more so than Down coming back in to it but that all changed when Galvin came on and steadied the ship. Only Mc Comiskey and Damien Turley could come out of this with any credit at all. If Dan Mc Cartan had of played a game like some of them boys the other night people on here would of been calling for his head as has been done before for a whole lot less. A performance and and attitude like the other night would see the Dubs eat us alive need a drastic change in attitude this week.
