And we're coming down the proverbial home stretch now, Monaghan pushing for a top two spot, Laois pushing to stay out of the bottom two.

I don't think it will be that handy but Monaghan are starting to build what looks like their championship XV and should have too much for Laois.

Another tasty one to look forward to.. Haven't seen any of the men from the hills this year but believe they are in free scoring form.. Can't see too many changes for Monaghan, D Hughes still out. If we show the form we did against Meath and Down (in the first half!) then I'd be reasonably confident. The winner of this one will have one eye on promotion..

This tie needs no introduction and always contains plenty of needle..

We should have McManus and (possibly) Lennon starting with Kieran Hughes there or there about. I feel we ran out of steam yesterday. We were full tilt for 40-50 minutes and played some great defending and counter attacking football but need to pace ourselves better for the full 70 mins.. I know it's only February and that should come with fitness. Our new lads done well I thought but we defended the lead too much when Down got their goal and this crack of hand-passing backwards right the way back to the keeper is hard to watch..

So, it's a case of do what you do well and I think we're in with a good shout..

There may be little to speak of regarding this tie but its the week of so let's get at it...

Tough assignment for both teams. Down coming off the back of a drubbing and Monaghan coming off the back of giving Dublin 2 points.. I'd imagine a frenetic fast paced game lies in store. Glad it's on Sat night too as that always adds a bit of atmosphere.

What's the injury status in Down at the moment? Monaghan will be without Darren Hughes who'll be a big miss in defence for us. My reckoning is Corey will start at full back, McAdam will drop back to wing half back and Eoin Lennon will start in midfield.

What's the story with Colm Greenan from Clontibret, is he a long term out or nearing ready?

Not great news for Clones!  ::) That might not annoy many too badly though.. I'm happy that Casement is getting redeveloped (as I live in Belfast!) but I still think it lacks atmosphere (or the surrounding area) on match day. Great pitch though..

Looking forward to this game as it's been a great pairing of late.. Lads should be well up for it after Sunday and bar young Greenan I don't think we're in too bad a shape.. Dub will be favourites surely given their run in the division to date, a tag Monaghan will be happy enough with. Jaysus we really need 2 more points as I reckon there'll b 4/5 teams not safe till the last day. Folk say that division one is not important but I disagree as it's way more enjoayble and exiciting.. Every game is vital (and difficult!) which is good for the team and good value for the supporters!!  :)

I wouldn't be one to shower Cavan with plaudits but this man deserves his own thread I reckon!

A stalwart for Cavan over the past 14 years and was one of the main reasons they won the Ulster title in 1997. An absolute mammoth man but a gentleman off the park.. Brilliant mid-fielder in his day who wasn't afraid to get forward for the odd score.

Apologies if this has been discussed before,
I have two premium level tickets for Sunda (and I don't even like prawn sandwiches) Can anyone tell me if I'm allowed to bring my 7 month old son in with me? I heard somewhere that I need a ticket for 'insurance' reasons but I assumed that all children under a certain age would enter FOC.

Thanks in advance.

Queen's County posters come out where ever you are??

Lookin forward to this showdown.. Not be handy for Monaghan at all I reckon.. It's a great way to finish off the league though having four teams still in the hunt for two places, good championship preparation for any team!

GAA Discussion / Get your GAA degree now!
March 05, 2009, 08:14:02 AM
Just heard on Today FM on the way to work that you can now do a degree in GAA.

Where do I sign??

I wonder will it be a BSc, BEng or BA? BA (arts) maybe given the nature of some of our thespian players..  Who would be the lecturing said degree??

Would there be one version for people 'from the north' and one for the remainder of the island?

Would the Dubs be exempt and go straight for the Masters?

So many questions...  ::)

A bit away I know but really looking forward to this one given the closeness of the teams at the moment.. Monaghan have showed well in their first two outings but I'm thinkin this one won't be as handy! The big advantage for us is the development of the squad this year. This is something that Banty has been a bit thin on to date.. There's no place guaranteed and a few of last years first 15 struggling to make it this year, which is healthy..

Should maybe draw a line in the sand for both teams as to where they're at..

Edit:
  Apologies Drici!!  :)

Just read this on tinternet: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/northern_ireland/gaelic_games/7752206.stm Jaysus the media must love this lad.. Surely Fermanagh's lack of free taking ability should have warranted his inclusion or is MOR a man of principles and won't have him near the place based on his record. Nex thing we'll see is a discrimination case in Enniskillen courhouse...

GAA Discussion / Arse-boxing
August 18, 2008, 09:08:44 AM
Does any man know what this sport is that Tommy Lyons was referring to on the Sunday Game last nite? When Pat asked him had he unfinished business with Dublin and would he go back to managing them he said "Ah come on Pat, you're arse-boxing now!"  ::)

Gaels,
There may have been a thread on this in the past but I'm gonna go for it anyhow.. I'm curious to know what some of the names/aliases/monikers/pseudonyms mean of the folk who post on this board? There are some first class names on this board and I'd be interested to know their meaning/origin.. I know we are approaching the business end of the championship but it'd be a much needed break from chattin about Paul Galvin...

So here goes:

'GrandMasterFlash' (for those who don't know or weren't born until after the 70's) is the moniker of 'Joseph "Biggie Grand" Saddler', the hiphop DJ, better known as Grandmaster Flash. You've probably all head the tune 'The Message' at some point in your existence produced by GrandMaster Flash and the Furious Five.

GAA Discussion / NFL Final Dates?
March 04, 2008, 11:02:59 AM
Does anyone know when the NFL finals are taking place and where? Did I read somewhere that they weren't gonna be in Croker now due to maintenance work?

Thanks.
