GAA Discussion / Who can stop Sligo?
February 16, 2010, 12:33:03 AM
Seeing as Sligonian thinks Sligo will win every game all the time, and they have started winning against Louth, who can stop the men from the Yeats county for the rest of the year?

GAA Discussion / Who can stop Galway?
February 16, 2010, 12:31:36 AM
After having their blip day against Mayo in the opening round of the league. Galway came out all guns blazing once again against Monaghan just like they were out-scoring everyone in the FBD? Poor Mayo will have an awful day next Sunday trying to cope with the attacking prowess of the Galway forwards I feel.

Just to add to the list of unstopables.

Might as well start this thread. It will be my only thread starter for a while so I may as well start off with a bang.

Galway have been racking up huge scores in their FBD campaign. Mayo haven't,so form suggests Galway. However it is in Castlebar and Mayo won't want to lose the game there.

My own feeling is that Mayo will struggle in this game and Galway to win easily.

GAA Discussion / Match Programmes
August 19, 2009, 05:38:06 PM
Lads and ladies, I know I've little to be doing when starting a thread on match programmes. However, when the names of clubs are under the players, are they as Gaeilge or in English. I know only Mayo seem to do them in English when playing Connacht championship games, however when we got to Croker for that game against Meath, no other county had their club as Gaeilge- Kilkenny minors and seniors, Waterford and Meath. I was just wondering is it only a (non-Mayo) Connacht thing to have clubs listed in match programmes as Gaeilge.

GAA Discussion / Mayo v Down Minor thread
August 10, 2009, 08:53:55 PM
Yes, it's hard to pick ourselves up after another disappointing defeat yesterday but some of us intend to do that and why not start off with the minors. We had a good win over Galway, believed the hype machine against the Rossies and beat them in a replay in two poorish games it must be said. Then the lads travelled to Tullamore to beat Tipp minors comfortably in the end. The question is, can Mayo minors go all the way this year?? Saying that, they need to overcome this hurdle that is put in their way first to be talking about that stuff.

GAA Discussion / Your own county's club scene.
June 16, 2009, 09:13:02 PM
How does your club championship format work? Is there a backdoor with all kinds of playoffs like the inter-county championship? Is there a group stage for the first round like there is in Mayo. Or is it just plain old lose and your out? In Mayo it's the group stages. It has been like this for a number of years now, but I think there was a backdoor system like the current inter-county system. It caused all sorts of confusion at the time. (It did to me anyway!)

Whoops, thought I was on the Local discussion. If the mods want it over there they can move it there.

PPS, has every county a ban on club games 7 days prior to a senior championship match?

Just wondering if I'm the only person on the board that doesn't drink. I'm not ashamed that I don't drink either. In fact, giving up the alcohol was the best thing that happened me.

Not really surprised. They made a balls of the budget. Everything Cowen has done has fallen apart or into a crisis. There could be another General election! :o

Anybody know anything about these games? Two rounds of games played already and not a word about them here. Surely somebody has to have heard something from somebody else about these games.

General discussion / Help needed in copying files
April 11, 2008, 01:53:59 PM
Any of you guys familiar as to how to copy files from a USB to a CD-rom? I select the files and click 'Copy this file' button but the CD box comes up blank. Is the CD faulty or is it the computer, or maybe it's me because I'm not great at these things anyway!

GAA Discussion / Mayo v Donegal NFL Thread
February 11, 2008, 06:08:01 PM
It is a big game for both teams, Mayo will want to win at home, wile Donegal will want to follow on with another win. Hopefully Mayo's need will be greater as we need to win our home games (we only have 3). It will be interesting to see the team Johnno picks again. Will he leave Padden at fullback? I think it's unlikely but you never know. What Donegal team will turn up? The one that won the league last year, or the team that lost their way late on last year. I'm thinking it will be a tough match for Mayo but home advantage could swing it.

GAA Discussion / Qualifiers question
February 04, 2008, 03:57:45 PM
I know I'm a few months early but could anyone retell me the 'criteria' for the second round of championship (football) qualifiers? Is it the winners of round one qualifiers only or are the provincial losers in at that stage?

GAA Discussion / So it's nearly the end of the month!
January 31, 2008, 06:42:01 PM
And we were told that the television rights would be announced 'by the end of the month'. All we know is that TV3 has 10 games per year for the next 3 years. Come on Mr Brennan, we have the right to know what we will be able to watch on tv.
