Three of that Galway team started against Kerry in QF. Two more came on. None of the forwards involved against Kerry bar Brannigan who played at Wing Back when he came on against Sligo

GAA Discussion / Month of the Club
December 04, 2017, 05:44:36 PM
Mayo have stated that the county team are going away in April, for a training camp. Does this signify the end of the month of the club! Will other counties follow suit? Should clubs just realise that their players are now no longer available to them? I have strong views on this but most Mayo supporters that I speak to seem to be of the opinion that clubs dont matter.

Best player I saw this weekend was Paddy Durcan. His brother James also impressive. Peter Naughton has ability but may need to bulk up. James McCormack Claremorris in the same boat. I liked Robert Mollloy and Conor Keane and Kevin Feerick all Holly Carramore. Young Finnerty from Ballintubber could be a player in a couple of years. Jason Gibbons outstanding. Sean Regan & Ciaran Tracey Ballina impressed. Caolan Crowe & Trevor Nally were the best on show for Garrymore. Ardnaree Number 15 had no programme looked good

Lee played full back last year against Sean Cavanagh & Michael Quinlivan with all the same players available. Why would the same management risk Donie Vaughan in that position this year. as for Keith Higgins I hope I dont need to explain what is meant by naming him 13.

Itchy you have experience of players getting rid of managers with the Liam Austin saga. Did you back the players in that instance. Also didnt the players vote to get rid of Val Andrews.

Its quite obvious at this stage that journalists/bloggers are taking the players side. H&C are no use to them any more but they need players interviews in 2017.

The columnists who dont need interviews are backing H&C. Bernard Flynn, Colm O Rourke, Pat Spillane have no need for player interviews and therefore go to town on the players.

The Thursday Night before the All Ireland Final a change was made to the Mayo Match Day squad. A player who was on the panel all year was suddenly removed and replaced by a man that was not seen June. At the time, I was disgusted that this be done to a new player on the panel this year, but after reading the article on Saturday I am sick to the stomach. If, as I now believe a relation intervened this was a despicable act. BTW, the player brought in  played no part over the course of the two games and I believe the player they took out probably wouldnt have either.

The Nuclear Fallout from the breakup of FOD and the Mayo Lads has wiped out half the county panel without any need for cyanide

Crowe & Nally only joined the panel in January.  If Brendan Harrison got this treatment he wouldnt have got an allstar this year. They might not make it, but after 9 months on a panel it is premature to make that judgement call. Should Brian Reape, Michael Hall, Ger McDonagh also be dropped after one year on panel.

Dropped off 26 Thursday night before final after being on it all year. Made way for D Drake, strange Drake hadn't togged much all year.

Great game in Claremorris. Once again Jimmy Killeen and Shane Nally were top notch for Garrymore. David Reilly impressed for Claremorris,  treatment on Nally before AI Final lacked class. Garry in QF again but probably lacking in a few areas with loss of Varley's and Connolly, won't be hammered but just shy of what's needed.

Guards called in Charlestown, league form doesn't count for much in Championship. Big 3 to make semis and Knockmore 50/50 depending on draw.
