The NY Post writer, Laura Italiano, whose name was on the original "story" has resigned, saying she was forced to write it and that she didn't push back hard enough.

And the bounty story came out of intelligence sources. It was absolutely newsworthy. Boris Johnson was even briefed on it. Trump's and his administration's denials made the news too.
