Fabulous winning score. But the Galway lad who fist passed the ball straight to Monaghan deserves an enormous root up the hole for robbing the public of a penalty shoot out!

well maybe he should have been vaccinated by now
Having the vaccine doesnít stop you from getting it. It wouldíve made no difference  ;D ;D ;D
Your second sentence is false. .

Getting the vaccine does not guarantee you wonít get Covid, but it hugely reduces the chances. And if you do catch it youíre far less likely to get sick.
I didnít mention whether he would get sick or not, so my second sentence isnít false. The vaccine doesnít stop you getting it which is what I said. So having the vaccine or not, wouldíve made no difference.

It's not 100% but the vaccine does stop you getting Covid - or at least hugely reduces the chance of you contracting it and passing it on.

When they say 90% efficacy, that means re contracting Covid. If Rahm had got the vaccine, he would have been highly unlikely to contract Covid.

I wonder will they have winners medals and 2 versions of the cup at the games for the winning teams, in the event itís not a Dublin v Tyrone final?

Would go down in the record books as an NFL joint winners, not to be sneezed at.

Dubs v Donegal to be played at neutral venue.

Wonder why that is
Both teams (technically) had just one home game so far. Therefore, it's a coin toss, unless both teams agree they'd prefer a neutral venue rather than risk losing the toss.

Makes sense in this case I think. Although Donegal won't be too happy when the GAA announce Croke Park as the neutral venue  :P  :P   :P   ;)

Disgusting behaviour in Dublin these last 2 nights. P"ssing & Sh"teing all over the place & rubbish all over the place. A herd of cattle wouldn't be as bad. Irish people really are low in-bred basta%ds.
No bins, no toilet facilities, no personal responsibility. A bad mix.

You must have missed Kerry doing it against Dublin (unsuccessfully) in 2011.
I don't remember it becoming part of Kerry's match tactics from then on.

The GAA is in a very weak position
Most of its income comes from the all Ireland , the crowds and the associated spending

I.don't understand why the other counties accept what is happening.

Well, that's a different point than you made initially.  You're still wrong, but it is different.

As I'm sure you do actually know, possession football is a tactic designed to draw out a blanket defence when the defending team is losing.  Without that style of defence, there wouldn't be the possession game.
I don't remember Kerry doing it
I just think the Dubs have destroyed the sport with the assistance of the GAA.
Playint keep.the ball ahould be outlawed.
They will walk another all Ireland this year. Things like this never get better.

The way to stop keep ball is to win the ball from your opponents.  That requires coming out of your defensive shell and making tackles.  No rule change required.
A bit silly from seafoid alright. With a few minutes to go, 15 v 15, Dublin 2 points up and they have 4 free men looking to receive a pass! Thatís Dublin ruining football, having all these free men waltzing about in the middle of the field!

Playing keep ball is difficult, unless the opposition deliberately make it easy. About 10 mins into the second half of the Kerry game, Dubs tried to play keep ball and handed Kerry 3 points in 2 minutes, which completely changed the momentum of that game. 3 mistakes by Dublin let Kerry right back into it, but of course a team is far more likely to make a mistake when the opposition put pressure on them. Forced errors.

what an absolute stupid rule that league final probably wont be played if they are playing the week after.

What rule is this then?
The rule basically is that it would be unfair on Donegal to play in the league final one week, then the preliminary round of Ulster the following week. Therefore, if they get to the league final, they will be awarded the league jointly with the other finalist.

Same applies to any other teams in the same position in the other divisions. Not sure if there are any games apart from the Ulster prelim scheduled for the week after league final weekend.

Mayo 1 to 15 named. Probably not the actual team but here it is.

1 Rob Hennelly, 2 Eoin O'Donoghue, 3 OisŪn Mullen, 4 Lee Keegan,  5 Michael Plunkett, 6 Stephen Coen (C), 7 Fergal Boland, 8 Mattie Ruane, 9 Diarmuid O'Connor, 10 Fionn McDonagh, 11 Darren McHale, 12 Bryan Walsh, 13 Paul Towey, 14 Cillian O'Connor, 15 James Carr.
Whatís the name of the lad who won the RTE SAS army thingy last year? I thought he was getting very close, but is he still involved?

Olympic boxing titles should not be in the picture when talking about greatest ever Irish sportsperson.
Itís just a class below elite, to put it mildly.

Katie is world professional champion, and thatís fantastic. Sheís an inspiration but itís a minority sport, so Iíd put her on par with another multiple champion in a minority sport, Conor McGregor, personal feelings aside.

Both behind McIlroy, Harrington, Roy Keane, McGrath and Brady as truly world class operators in highly competitive sports.

George Best outdoes all of the above.  And not far behind is Alex Higgins. Another absolute genius. Two world titles and a host of other wins. Even aged 40 beat Stephen Hendry in the Irish Masters final!  And when Ireland won 3 in a row world titles, Higgins played 30 frames and won 26. 26-4 against top opposition is incredible. But after the 3 in a row, the authorities split us into north and south teams and the run ended.

But Georgieís probably the best ever. Pity he didnít get his wish to play in an All Ireland soccer team and then he could have show the whole world how good he was.

No disputing what your saying CO but once you were at the penalties why would you then choose to go 2nd? Presumably a club decision, not a whim by Bruno?
No way on earth there was a club decision to go second.

As most of us know, thereís one coin toss to decide ends, then another to decide who goes first.
Villarreal won the first coin toss. Fact.

I donít know who won the second coin toss. The way the virgin guy was speaking was as if United automatically had choice because they lost the choice of ends.

Maybe he was right and Bruno won the second toss and inexplicably chose to go 2nd. Or maybe the commentator missed the second coin toss and made an incorrect assumption. The latter being the most likely.

Thereís big pressure  in peno shootouts, moreso when it gets to sudden death and thereís no question there is more pressure on the team going second.

Detroit is starting to see the light too.

Ford recently announced an electric version of the F150 pick-up truck. Think the F150 is the best selling vehicle in the states.

It will take a while before the infrastructure is in place to allow people to use it for work or long-haul purposes, but its a start.
I canít fathom the point of pick ups, but I do love the new F150 !

Wifey and I both have plug in hybrids. Charger at home and in both workplaces. Electric only range about 30-40 km, which gets us into work. So (pre-Covid) itís months between petrol fill ups, unless we head down the country for a weekend or something. Though Iíve actually no idea how much it costs to recharge the cars at home.

General discussion / Re: What is the point of this board anymore?
« on: May 25, 2021, 10:37:41 PM »
Iíve seen plenty examples of deliberately antagonistic behaviour in threads before but if the issue is with the golf thread then I donít see any major issue. I have no problem with disagreements and lively debate but I do have an issue with petty insults and deliberate trolling.

The issue is simple enough. The golf thread is a quiet but occasionally interesting thread among people whoíve a passing to middling to obsessive interest in the sport. Rory McIlroy is rightly the most prominent topic of conversation, but until recently has never dominated it. People who are interested in golf are interested in more than one of its topics.

Right now itís a thread about Rory McIlroy and Leyton fucken Hewitt. On repeat. And repeat. And repeat. And repeat. Itís an extraordinarily nullifying read. The thread reaper is in swinging his scythe. And under current board guidelines he can keep swinging it until we all die.

If he had to be pickier and choosier about when to wield that scythe, we would all benefit.
100% right, and itís a great idea.

The people who reply to him are nearly equally to blame in destroying the thread though. When someone has a condition where everything is black and white, no compromise, no conditions, then there can be no debate. Utterly pointless replying to him. In fact utterly pointless even reading anything he writes.
