GAA Discussion / Re: Would you be in favour of a second tier?
« on: August 02, 2021, 03:04:42 PM »
Talking of Tiers
Sligo had to give a walkover last year to Galway, while Fermanagh had to play a game without a scatter of players.
Will Cork be conceding
https://www.rte.ie/sport/gaa/2021/0801/1238535-cork-unable-to-fulfil-u20-final-fixture-over-covid-case/
Match rescheduled for next week. As expected the bigger more high profile county accommodated.

The way Fermanagh and Sligo was treated last year showed what those at the top thought of the lesser counties.

Some of us did indeed let ourselves down that day :-[

The Dubs project had already started by then.
It was only a few years later that total Leinster dominance was a reality.

5 years later 2011 was not only Dublins first All-Ireland since 1995 but also their first final appearance.

Meath vs Dublin final 2nd of August.

One way traffic in the first half Meath 2-5 Dublin 0-1

2-7 to 1-2 at the water break, Dublin hopes of comeback not helped by a straight red to number 15.

FT Meath 3-8 Dublin 1-3. First time that Meath have won back to back Leinster minor titles since 1992,93

First time in 19 cup presentations to a Dublin captain it hasn't been Stephen Cluxton.

FT Dublin 0-20 Kildare 1-9. I see Mayo winning the All-Ireland semi final if Dublins bring their form from today, Wexford and Meath games into that match.

HT Dublin 0-9 Kildare 0-5. Without taking away from the Kildare competitive showing the Dubs for the 3rd championship game in a row are a long way off their All-Ireland winning form.

Offaly Christy Ring Cup winners. The last time Offaly won hurling silverware in Croke Park was the 1998 All-Ireland and that's the level they will be aiming to get back to, starting with the Joe McDonagh Cup in 2022.

Galway in command at half time in Tuam. 2-8 to 0-6. Roscommon counting the cost of not taking the 3 goal scoring chances that came their way.

Underdogs Offaly hugely impressive in that 1st half against All Ireland favourites Cork. Half time Offaly 1-7 Cork 0-3.

Congrats to Offaly into their first U20/U21 AI final since 1988. FT Offaly 3-10 Cork 0-14

Tyrone 0-11 Monaghan 0-6. Looking like a very routine win for Tyrone. Have Monaghan a kick in them? This is the worst they have played all year.

Tyrone haven’t let them play

20 attacks v 19 in that half.
