Quote from: cjx on Today at 09:02:20 AMEverlasting Tyrone 2 big men problem CHB and CHF. Teague the man who held S O'Shea scoreless in AI semi ( after O'Shea scored 12 against Armagh in QF). He is a very focussed man and surely best for CHB for now. But Tyrone so badly need 2 pointer shooters like Mulroy of Louth and plan/work to setup 2 pt chances. It is the key in many ways to the new rules game and has a massive psychological impact on teams. Kennedy great 48m 2pt v Awfully and RC. The 'respect'/lack of confidence v Offaly in 1st half was very sad and must never happen again. Meath at Croker will bury Tyrone if Tyrone behave anything like 1st half v Offaly must get confidence and plan execute 2pt plans. Daly seems to messup goal chances regularly and can't afford that. But l would have RC on from start for his angry determination alone but most of all we surely  need determination and power down the middle to win. Not sure about O'Kane at Croker yet.

Peter Harte was our go to 2 point kicker. McCurry hasn't played much either. R canavan would be a threat but not a sure starter. It's something that has left Ciaran Dalys game at the moment too

Quote from: Captain Scarlet on March 01, 2026, 07:32:02 PMWhat were Offaly like v Tyrone?
Would they have any hope v Cavan?

Kildare will lose by 6+ in the last two games. Rumours doing the rounds that Alex Beirne is gone for the rest of the league.

Offaly were decent against tyrone and probably should have been. ahead at half time.
but they didn't show up in the 2nd half and when tyrone brought on mccurry it just got away from them.
But they had improved a lot from the Derry game I thought, much more direct. But seem very low on confidence.

Tyrone are poor at the minute though, so its hard to be sure.

Offaly won and held onto the ball well in the first half against the wind and got a few nice scores running at Tyrone. Tyrone a bit nervous at the moment and things not happening freely but a lot of young players playing.

Tyrone upped the tempo in the second half and dominated the ball and the kick out and moved it at pace. Cavan would be a better side imo

Quote from: zapped on February 28, 2026, 03:19:06 PMIt's unfortunate, but let's face it, two of them who left aren't good enough to play. Which is why they haven't played. McAteer had potential (and did play) so he's the only one that we can consider a loss.

As for Kearney, the fella has won the lottery currently as he'll probably never be on another county squad. So no idea why he'd walk away now. Byt he'll be further down the pecking order when the U20s are finished so who knows.

It's obviously a huge commitment for them but I wouldn't be losing any sleep. If Derry are to win an all Ireland it'll be with 18 or 19 core players not a raft of lads who blow in and out.
no sure of the winning the lottery analogy but 18/19 players will 100% not win us an all Ireland. It'll be a minimum of 22 odd all playing at a set standard.

Currently theres a gap between our best 5 and the next 12.
Its these squad players with potential that we really need to be holding onto. Massive commitment with very little glory but that's key to building the whole thing.
From the U20 squad who do you expect to join? Tommy Rogers and James Sargent are already floating about it.
Eamon young and Conal Higgins are part of the panel

Are young, Higgins and Roger's still under 20?

Morgan been off the boil, conn very average, daly not a midfielder, cullen no feet, cassidy is a forward, burns not a footballer, mckernan not a 6, strength and conditioning doesnt look anywhere near what it was in years gone by. Only going to get worse when darragh goes hotel trivago

Wouldnt be running to sack a manager but when everyone can see what he's doing wrong and he's not seeing it himself its not looking good.
the county board should ring peter donnelly and pay him whatever it takes.

Maybe in the wrong but I thought Daly was one of the better ones yesterday an a much better all round footballer than con at the moment. Ben Cullen can kick 2 pointers and showed that for his uni but doesn't look like he's capable at the moment.

Just wondering who is the younger lad on the line with the water boy bib on?

That's Mickey Moynagh on the line but again would he be the differential we need. It's unlikely.

No not him ha. Younger lad does a bit of shouting on potential breaks

Conor McCrory I think you're describing, he's the s&c coach (or one of them)

Thanks that's him. Is Peter Hughes involvement online only?

Don't know how you can justify Ben Cullen of all men to retain his place.

Where are the big 2 point shooters that are so badly required?

Jordan, McCurry, Conor ONeill, Ronan Cassidy, Cullen, McKernan, McGarrity all no problem kicking 2 pointers if they are worked. The forward play is poor at the moment

Quote from: cjx on February 22, 2026, 10:31:00 PMInteresting so little mention that Morgan is primarily responsible for 3goals and a couple of points Tyrone gave away in the last 3 games. That must have had a very unsettling effect over and above that it put Tyrone behind in each game when it happened. Add that to the bizarre selections by management and the repeated failures to convert 2 point chances compared to top class teams explains most of the current shambles l think.

Morgan really has to be given a game off at this stage

Quote from: qz on February 22, 2026, 06:32:28 PMThe kick outs needs fixed,
Kennedy needs support in midfield. Man marked by 2 Louth midfielders today for the kick out & still won his share.
They did not have to mark Daly today as he does not want know about the ball in the thick of the action, no grit, too soft. doesn't chase back or win breaks.
After Kennedy, no plan B apart from  on occasion as in the Cavan game .. Kilpatrick on the touchline.
Kilpatrick did very well in patches against both Derry & Cavan but was 5 out of 10 today like many.
A 2nd midfielder, winning kick outs/ break ball is urgently needed. Do we have one?

The opposition kick out needs attention too. Not winning enough or making it difficult for the opposition often enough.

I thought Daly was good today and one of our better players. Won a few kick outs and scored a point. Tyrone do not have any other options at midfield at the moment and conn is way too inconsistent to be a guaranteed starter
Oguz not an option at midfield? Don't think he's a world beater or anything but would have him over Daly at that position

Would rather see Oguz.

He's injured again and not on bench. Aidan donaghy/ben McDonnell not on bench atm so options limited.

Oisin McCann foot in a boot at them moment too
