Quote from: DaleCooper on July 12, 2025, 05:52:20 PMMark Bradley has done nothing all year, the odds of him coming in and replicating McCurry on form is u likely.

Peter Harte will be crucial now with breeze.

Id put R Canavan in ahead of Bradley due to him coming in last day and getting his

Some poor Tyrone misses but worse on kerry end, but Tyrone tighter than armagh. Have curbed O Se and Paudie a fair bit.

They need to pray for key kerry men going off with injury/ cards / cramp I feel to win.

Not much of a strategy to win a game.

Rip-off bastards who will then try to avoid paying should you make claim any way. I'm just covering the building now, couldn't afford contents also.

Insurance is only really for the doomsday scenario (god forbid) - a waste of time trying to claim for any contents or minor damage. They feckers will have it off you in a few years with increased premiums if you make a claim. Yes, I understand businesses have to make money, but in the past 3/4 year, they, along with everyone else, have been gouging the f**k out of people.

He doesn't want it, and the people of Derry don't want him as manager. Joe lives rent-free in a lot of ye lads' heads and I'm sure he loves it.

Quote from: tyrone08 on July 10, 2025, 09:37:55 AMMcGeeney record as a manager is pretty horrible when setting aside the AI. For 5 years they never won a championship match, have been relegated multiple times, never won an ulster and he was badly found out when he sat and watched Kerry destroy their kick outs without changing anything.

https://www.irishnews.com/gaa/gaelic-football/kieran-mcgeeney-the-career-and-history-of-armaghs-manager-and-all-ireland-winner-EBYTZDBWQRFBJHXSAXKLSPDAWY/

I used to think the same but looking back now he got Armagh back competitive again and challenging and got us back to division 1 level.  Managers are judged on results and prizes of course but there is something to be said for a manager who can galvanise a squad, get them believing and buying into him. Nobody leaves the panel, nobody. He has also maximised the playing resources available to him based on slim pickings from underage.

And no overly strong Crossmaglen team to draw from.  2015 their last Ulster senior win and no Armagh team has reach the Ulster senior final since. Furthermore St. Patrick's Cullyhanna in 2023 was the first ever Armagh club to win the Ulster Intermediate Club Football Championship.
Mc geeney has gotten Armagh back at the top table
Underage is poor yet every year he finds one or two players.
He has done a fabulous job .

Yes, but the point being made is that it took him 6/7 years to get there. Not many managers get 2/3 years, never mind the time that has been afforded to McGeeney.

The Gallagher second coming (if it happens) is doomed to failure. There will be pressure on that team and management like never before to deliver something. That and all the outside goings on with Gallagher make it far too much of a pressure cooker, and something will give which never ends well.

I like the idea of Gilligan and Meenagh. That's a ticket I'd back. I just really hope of County Board has something in the works, otherwise they need a refresh at the top too.

Quote from: BigGreenField on July 09, 2025, 09:59:08 AMNiblock is one of life's naturally enthusiastic people, he does get carried away, possibly having come through the bbc environment were for a long time the game got very little coverage he may feel (or been trained to view) he has to sell it all the time to a sceptical audience (either sitting at home or at Ormeau Avenue).

It's also sadly a trait of us all that we want bemused outsiders to understand the game, community, culture and history all in one go (we've all done it). Need to ease back on the tourist board stuff and let the game show itself.

I'd give him a lot of credit for being part of the improved coverage we now have.

+1

They just need to ease up on the "new viewers" angle and let the game speak for itself.

Have them for exactly the same reason. I think these are the best - £20 for a camera you can rotate 180 degrees and are easy to setup. You have a menu on the app where you can access all cameras or even have them setup like a multiscreen. If you want to record it is inexpensive, get yourself a SD card. An additional benefit is the two way communication. Siblings can access the cameras at the same time if you have any.

This sounds interesting. Can you view on your smartphone wherever you are in the world and can more than 1 phone connect to it ? Thinking of whole family being able to view

+1 for Tapo. These are relatively cheap and the app is easy as. You can create multiple user accounts or just all login on the same one from any phone/tablet.

Quote from: EoinW on June 30, 2025, 03:08:03 AMTo be fair to Armagh, they lost because they couldn't win their own kickout.  2024 rules they would not have gotten blitzed the way they did.  Didn't someone suggest a while back that the rule changes were tailor made for Kerry?  I know that's sour grapes but I had to write it.

I've been struggling with the kickout rules for over 5 months(since Kerry scored two goals off Derry kickouts at the end of their league game).  The team being scored on shouldn't be penalized the way the new rules punish them.  I've seen too many games in which one team goes on a 5-10 minute scoring spree because the opponent can't get any possession.

Yes I know each ball is 50/50, however if anyone has been keeping count I bet that the team winning its kickout immediately get a scoring opportunity maybe 10% of the time, or much less.  Whereas when a team loses it's kickout it seems to be under immediate threat at least 50% of the time.

Games shouldn't be won and lost just on kickouts.  The FRC needs to fix this.

Sorry but that is utter codswallop. A big part of the game is fielding the ball. The new rules were to encourage that. You can't keep changing the rules because it doesn't suit you.

What did he say about them?

Weakest team to ever win the AI.

They're better than the Tyrone team that won the 2021 All Ireland*

Is there any further appeal around this, or is this the end of the line for it?

Quote from: Topmarks on June 15, 2025, 11:00:58 PMThat's it over for another year. Disappointing all round tbh. No wins in league and championship and whatever way you dress it up is not good enough. The only positive was the performances did improve the last couple of games but still some glaring issues noteable kickouts.

Tally will likely get another year but there needs to be a proper review held into what went wrong. I would be looking to improve the backroom team and a Gilligan or Meenagh may be options.

In terms of players he would get a chance to attend the club championship and see the lay of the land. Be interesting to see if anyone steps up. I honestly don't think we're a million miles away but finding a forward or 2 would be the order of the day and getting a few of the u20s game time. Hoping Oisin McWilliams can get back, Eamon young needs fast tracked and a lottery win would be Callum Brown.

Even a blind man on a galloping horse can see our biggest shortcoming - our kickouts. We struggled to get our hands on the ball in the first 5 mins of both halves at the weekend, especially from our own kickouts. Dublin rattled 7 or 8 points off in those 2 5-minute spells. Was a similar story in the last 10 mins of the Galway game, and ultimately, we are out of the Championship because of it. Had we got our hands on the ball and worked it into young Murray in the last two games, he'd have done damage.

In saying that, it is, for me, still a positive ending to what had started as a very bleak outlook. Good to see Clucky back. A big ask for anyone to come in from that amount of time off and make a big impact. If we can get the goalkeeper position nailed down and have some consistency with that, it's the obvious starting point. A fully fit Clucky, McKinless and a few of the U-20s coming through, I think we'll be a good place.

QuoteDo the sensible thing Ulster GAA, take 100 mill, build the stadium you can afford.

Exactly this. At this rate it will barely be done in a lot of our lifetimes. Antrim(unfortunately) would never fill a 30k stadium. The athletics grounds and pairc esler are perfect examples.

Yes a grand new casement could be something to be proud of but it's scale is not needed.

Have said this countless times. Build what you can now with the money, but build it a bit at a time so it can be extended in future if required. It took 10+ years to fully develop Croke Park. It doesn't need to be a completely brand new shiny stadium from day dot. If they had done that 15 years ago, they'd have the stadium they wanted now.
