Quote from: illdecide on May 05, 2024, 08:43:52 PMI think a lot of you need to think more carefully about calling these so called people "Fans". I'm from Lurgan and it pisses me off a bit when people come on here and just post up "Lurgan people are scumbags". These people you are talking about come from everywhere and don't care what the attraction is, they're there for the party and couldn't name you 3 players. The real fans are there for majority of the games home and away through thick and thin and thousands come from Lurgan to support Armagh.
I see drunken fans at every game from every County so no crap about being far away to travel/size of town nonsense or whatever else was posted, the fact is the further in the Championship you go the more idiots you get unfortunately. The All Ireland final will sort that out as tickets are so hard to get and there'll be no Lurgan ones drunk at that either.
Lurgan ones ares scumbags though ;)

Only messing, plenty of sound men and women from Lurgan and plenty of drunken idiots from Lurgan and elsewhere as well!

Quote from: Main Street on May 05, 2024, 08:26:28 PMGough was fortunate that Galway won, If they hadn't won, he would've been melted on the spot by the extent of Joyce's ire post game. Considering the 2 shocking decisions when Galway were trying to claw back the 3 point deficit, the two soft frees they did get just balanced things out.
But that's not how a game should be reffed.
Overall I thought Galway were well worth the margin of victory.

Think Gough realised that he gave Mayo a couple of very marginal calls heading towards injury time so gave Galway a couple of marginal calls during injury time. That's what it felt like at least. That said I thought Maher got clattered for that free. Even if he was expecting the hit. Not sure how that one is even controversial.

Maher dove after he knew he was not gettin it.
Tommy Conroy got all ball. The reaction of the three or four Mayo players around it really tells the tale, they were incredulous.
But as I said earlier Gough did not cost Mayo the game.
He Did give us a fair few 50/50 ones earlier.

The biggest decision in the game was the Galway goal being over the line by the RTE slowmo doing the rounds on twitter and not being given. Even if that wasn't given as over the line (it was), Brickenden basically threw the ball out thereafter. By rules is that a penalty or a 14 yard free? Huge moment nonetheless. A couple of dodgy calls in Galway's favour in injury time doesn't change the fact that Mayo benefitted from Gough more than they were hindered
Didn't think it was over the line tbh and in fairness umpires and refs don't get replays. Good few bad calls all round though.

Quote from: David McKeown on Today at 09:36:26 AMAt least it's not in conflict with the rule book that's happened in the past. Again though I think it shows the need for root and branch reform.

It's also a bit of a nonsense to me. Get fouled. Get advantage. Get bottled up by good defending. Lose advantage.

How exactly do you claim the free kick then. Must you shoot or play the ball to an opponent or something?

Also how is a shot at goal (regardless of outcome) not an advantage over say a 21m free?
I think you could be allowed to stop and claim the free.

Quote from: thejuice on Today at 08:31:28 AMIt would be great to see a real minnow win this. Hopefully Wicklow can do it.

Not sure about Antrim, they haven't really taken off under Andy McEntee. They were good against us last year in the semi final but I thought he'd have them promoted in the league.
Kildare have the talent obviously so if they got the finger out would be strong but I can't see it. Outside that you'd imagine Down and Fermanagh as highest ranking teams would be favourites.

Interested to see how Wicklow and Sligo go as I'd say one of their managers will be in with us within the next couple of years.

Gough is abysmal

Comer will destroy any fullback with time and space like that.

Decent enough game, Clare did themselves proud. Kerry far from firing on all cylinders yet though.

Quote from: Orior on May 04, 2024, 07:09:41 PMDoes anyone know when tickets will go on sale on ticketmaster? Do they have to wait until they know how many the clubs used?
Yeah. Depending on clubs there could be general sale maybe midweek as far as I know.

So Wexford lose to Antrim then beat Galway? Mad Ted.

Quote from: Dunneroyal on May 04, 2024, 04:43:07 PMAny potential surprises here ?  I think Antrim could be the dark horse here. Andy will have them primed for this.
Reckon Wicklow have a scalp in them as well.

Quote from: PadraicHenryPearse on May 04, 2024, 01:09:31 PMGhassan Abu Sitta denied entry to France (Via twitter) after being refused entry to Germany last month and according to him due to germans putting a 1 year ban on him entering Euope. He was due to speak in the French parliament. Nice germans.

Ghassan worked in Gazan hospitals during the first month and a half of the genocide.
Should be invited to Dublin.

Quote from: imtommygunn on May 02, 2024, 12:25:36 PMBetween Laochra Gael and GAA Social my wife always asks me why I watch / listen to stuff that's so depressing  ;D  Seems to be the way of it these days - you want to talk to someone then they need to have some sort of back story. (No a dig at anyone just a marketing thing - I haven't listened to this week's one but IMO the Bells are modern day heroes and are just great people so while I have no doubt it will be a bit sad I'll be very interested to listen to them too).
I'd say with the Colin Bell one theres parts that would break your heart but they still manage to have a good laugh in other parts as well, loved the bit about him saying he's meeting lads he played with that are on walking sticks now, sure those are the lads that tracked back and made tackles I didn't bother with that!

Hard to even find superlatives to describe Colin and the service their charity provides tbh, have helped over 1800 families at such a tough time.
