Quote from: GAA Club Fan on October 27, 2025, 07:09:01 PMMore of a rule query and not a knock on the ref who did well.

Did I see Trillick pass a free back to the keeper with about 10 mins left yesterday? Is that allowed?

My reading of that incident was that the ref was telling the Trillick player to go backwards to take the free, hence the player kicked the ball to the keeper to then take the free from correct position who in turn kicked it back to the outfield player to play on...

Maybe I am wrong but that was what I assume happened

Cathal Donaghy MOTM by an absolute distance. Should be no argument in fairness - by far the most influential player in the pitch.

Quote from: Ryan O on October 25, 2025, 11:21:21 AMDo we back our new county manager and coach to do the business with Loughmacrory or hope there beat and get them up road to Owenbeg ASAP.
Should be cracker of a game, Loughmacrory play good football but from sentimental point of view I'd be happy see Trillick over the line, some clubs deserve a bit of glory.

Your county squad had a full debrief this morning in Owenbeg with management there in full.
Regards the Tyrone final, it could go either way and I can understand your sentimental feelings towards a Trillick victory after the last 12 months they have had but to suggest they deserve a bit of glory is a bit far fetched....this will be their 4th title in 10 years I believe plus 3 league titles in last 5 years. They are a great team but Lough could beat them on the day

Lads, on the outside looking in here.

Regards the SNeil appeal on the 50m penalty, I can just about understand their logic but can't understand why they chose to appeal (if that makes sense)
I am assuming they think if the 50m was applied correctly it would have been brought up well inside the arc and assumed Newbridge would have taken the 1 point score whereas the way it was done, Newbridge had no choice and had to go for the 2 point score. Maybe if they had a choice they would have went for the safe option

Another poster suggests SNeil have the best squad in Ulster - do most Derry people think that? There is a lot of quality teams in Derry never mind Ulster to suggest SNeil is the best was a surprise shout to me, to be honest.

Quote from: tyroneStatto on October 12, 2025, 10:27:37 PMWhat is happening with all these breaches going back to the Errigal v Omagh game that aren't being penalised? Like literally what is the problem? The officials are all mic'd up. If it's a breach it's a breach there's no dispute. It should be a simple call to make.
What on earth are the linesmen up to?

I mentioned it in a post a fortnight or so back - it appears the sideline officials just have agreed to ignore it.
I don't like harping on about referees, but they are getting paid - standard should be much better but unfortunately is dreadful. It us woeful at the minute at all levels, even underage...
In reality the only 2 referees that you can accept for your club game is Hurson & Eanetta (providing it is a home game). Honestly the rest are woeful and think they are unbeatable and beyond criticism or reproach.

Quote from: ClubScene13 on October 12, 2025, 08:11:06 PMFriday night 7:30pm Healy Park - confirmed. Money money money.

Agree with some posters above that as a neutral Eanetta probably just slightly favoured Loughmacrory a touch, but definitely not a robbery or anything close to it. I think there is a reason himself and Sean Hurson are doing the county games, they are still the best we have even with missing some calls now and again.

Some heart from Trillick, their games with Errigal take on a life of their own sometimes you don't need to be the better team to get over the line. Good to see the back to back streak continue as well, it is some statistic.

Replay on Friday I will go with Lough by a point and they have nothing to fear in final having already been beaten by Trillick on penalties in the not too distant past

Was disappointed in Hurson tonight. On the Trillick penalty he is 20 yards away but goes into his umpires to consult. Make the f**king decision yourself, you are supposed to be the best - don't pass the blame onto an umpire. Some of the umpires I have seen recently you would think have never done it before. The 2 men doing the end that Carmen attacked in the 2nd half were actually embarrassing to say the least. Shockingly poor...one signalling a score, whilst the other waved wide. Laughable to be honest but obviously not.
Imagine training 9 months to get shafted by one of those clowns...

Quote from: TheDergView on September 29, 2025, 12:01:38 AMMy predictions-
Both games to be in Omagh? Sean hurson reffing Trillick v Errigal. Errigal by 3.
Carmen v Lough - reffed by Gary Gormley. Steering towards Carmen by 2

Gary Gormley shouldn't even be allowed into watch the game, never mind referee it.

I go with Eanetta doing Trillick game & Hurson doing Carmen game.

Quote from: Rebel84 on September 28, 2025, 11:28:44 PMhas conroy reffed in the championship yet?, did excellent job in relegation playoff at clonoe last year and physically in good shape, should be getting the bigger games before meenagh

Think Conroy fine Errigal v Ardboe plus an intermediate game but haven't seen him since
Conroy is a decent referee in fairness.

Quote from: GAA Club Fan on September 28, 2025, 10:42:43 PMJust a few observations from the Championship so far.

- Re refs and the question re assessing them. What happens if the assessors says that the ref had a bad day? Who replaces said ref? It's obvious this year that the pool of refs is getting smaller. I regularly see a man reffing a game one day, 4th official that evening, linesman the next day. Does that take a toll on decision making eventually? It's a huge, huge issue, and I get the frustration but do forums like this help the situation or hinder it? I am guilty too of venting re refs when my team gets a rough deal. As an aside, have Sean Hurson or Mark Loughran reffed much this year? Two of the stronger refs, so I am surprised they have not been out more.

- The discipline in games has been good this year. I only recall a few red cards, and nothing that would be described as unsavoury. Players, officials, etc should be applauded regarding.

- The County Board really put out a great product for the Championship. Team sheets, set up, PR, live coverage etc. We all like to get a slap at the County Board at times but credit where it's due. In addition, teams playing every two weeks means that preparation for the teams has been better than previous years. With the 7 x starred game system next year that should improve further. We should be able to factor in a July break as well.

- The main thing I wanted to ask was, do you think that the new rules have ended the excitement of Championship upsets? Previously teams could have hung in and won with a sucker punch. The new rules mean that the best teams generally win, and that's not always a good thing. As an example of this take a look at the senior and all the games went to the favourites. Edendork beating Dromore might have raised an eye but not a shock as such. Intermediate and the only shock we had was Aghaloo beating Beragh, and even that was not seismic.

Very good post apart from the mark loughran bit. He has done his fair share of games. County board do a brilliant job promoting our games

Quote from: Rebel84 on September 28, 2025, 09:04:21 PMthought ref favourable to edendork,
but the ref shafted Donaghmore in their game bout halfway mark in second half, gave advantage when the only advantage really on was the free in, let play continue but didn't go back for the free, lough go straight down and score a 2 pointer, horrible weekend for tyrone refs

Agree on this but from memory that happened more than once but only one resulted in a score. Total inconsistency in how long he allowed advantage to both teams but Donaghmore felt the brunt of it in that occasion you mention. Turned a 1 point lead into a 3 point lead.
The Omagh game was a disaster for Meenah - useless officiating especially the 2 ridiculous calls against Omagh in the last 5 minutes. Incredibly I walked out from the game and overheard 2 Errigal men complaining about him!!!
The issue that concerns me is who assesses and monitors these performances and who appoints them - they need to be asking themselves a few serious questions.
Players, management and set ups train 9 months to get f**ked over by very poor officiating.
A very poor weekend for overall officiating in Tyrone
PS - have the linesmen just forgot the 3 man up rule or are they blatantly ignoring it?

Tentative nod to Loughmacrory

Tyrone SFC: Ben Hughes and Conor O'Neill unavailable for Loughmacrory clash as Counihan's men chase last-four spot

Apparently these 2 men are in talks with AFL teams is this true?

Think these 2 lads didn't feature against Galbally in the previous round so no real change for Donaghmore, albeit it was a more impressive win considering those 2 didn't play

The standard of the football in Junior has been diabolical to be honest but Tyrone will still probably win Ulster which highlights the difference between the counties in Ulster

Not happy saying this to be honest but the standard of refereeing in Junior has been shockingly poor - as bad as I have ever seen.

I stand corrected. Been through it once in my life and didn't even see a shop. 123 acres according to google, seems small but I'm not a farmer or Ordnance Survey Man!

Phil, you do realise Errigal catchment area includes the town of Ballygawley!!!
