I thought it arrived at the time they were putting an end to supporters going on to the pitch.

You've to decide whether the ball would have clipped the post even fractionally. You'd be guessing.Quote from: Baile Brigín 2 on July 13, 2026, 05:47:17 PMThat's what I'm saying. Bringing technology into it is not fixing the problem if the problem is umpire selection. Hurling there's a need for Hawkeye due to the sliothar size, speed and puck height. Shouldn't need it in football.Quote from: Look-Up! on July 13, 2026, 12:53:36 PMBut there is a valid question here. Who are the umpires? Are they qualified? I wouldn't go down the VAR route, but that was an appalling decision because the umpire, who appeared to be checking out the ladies in the stand, simply couldn't have made amy decisionQuote from: Armagh18 on July 13, 2026, 12:37:50 PMActually for most of us mere mortals that don't get to Croker for sellouts, umpires are the only show in town.Quote from: Look-Up! on July 13, 2026, 12:26:15 PMWell it shouldn't need to be one or the other lol.Quote from: Armagh18 on July 13, 2026, 12:13:49 PMIf there's simple technology that doesn't take over the game and lead to long reviews, why not. But Hawkeye was more needed for hurling more than anything else. For football if I had to choose one I'd much rather have competent umpires over Hawkeye.Quote from: TyroneTam on July 13, 2026, 12:11:53 PMWhat system does the pansyball have in place? Realistically if it's wild expensive not worth it for the once in a blue moon theres controversy but if it's something that could added to hawk eye easily enough then why notQuote from: gallsman on July 13, 2026, 11:57:34 AMHow would non award of Dublin goal have been changed? As has been said many times, the replays DO NOT show the ball crossing the line.
Do we want referees to look at a replay and go "ah yeah, sure this is probably what happened, I'll change my mind"?
I get that, would need a dedicated goal line camera that I'm sure wouldn't be most challenging thing to overcome. It's not a perfect system but this year has had so many big calls gone wrong that is costing teams a fair shot.
Definitely needs to be looked at having proper referees doing umpire
Quote from: thewobbler on July 11, 2026, 04:21:12 PMThe most entertaining thing so far has been spotting the sheer number of mistakes in RTE's half time stat sheet.Ffs

Down are too good for this level.
Doesn't make them contenders for an AI btw. Just that if Down were playing Louth today we would all expect a close game. We shouldn't be in Tailteann (even if we've earned it).
Quote from: ck on July 10, 2026, 09:33:39 AMAll of the above comments are accurate however I have sympathy for Antrim county board. They did what they believed was right at the time to progress the project.I don't. They were hateful hoors. They sent threatening letters from O'Hare solicitors to people, including many past players, officials, supporters and our only ever football all star for simply being a member of a social club that raised and continues to raise a lot of funds for Antrim GAA.
Quote from: whatwillbwillb on July 10, 2026, 06:25:46 AMWhile I don't disagree with you, the real decision makers in this case are those involved in Ulster GAA who have £207 million to build a stadium and who continue to fanny about. They aren't held to account either.Quote from: Duine Inteacht Eile on July 09, 2026, 09:23:18 PMPretty much spot on. And was anyone ever held to account? Nope. Our reps continued as nodding dogs, year after year after year.
We actually managed to free ourselves from those major decision makers, only to bring them straight back in in a different role. Sometimes ya get what ya deserve.
No one mentioning the political involvement, the virtue signalling has begun early ahead of next May, who's holding them to account for their role in all this? So have we really freed ourselves from the real major decision makers? However I do concur with you, ya do da get what ya deserve.
