If I were manager (yeah, I know), I wouldn't be completely averse to the idea of Stephen Ireland returning. We're not so blessed with talent that we could afford to turn our noses up at someone who might be playing regular Premier League football in the near future. However, there is no way I'd be the one to pick up the phone. It's not hard to envisage a scenario where the manager of Ireland publicly expresses an interest in Ireland's return, only to have the little weasel haughtily declare his lack of interest because said manager was insufficiently worshipful of the genius of Stephen Ireland. If he wants to come back, let him make the first move.
