Quote from: Saffsof82 on March 06, 2026, 07:39:12 AMYour are 100% correct.....we lambast and wring our hands that our school teams can't compete in A competitions, yet in hurling our schools are in the B competition (Mageean winners only qualify to go into B semifinal). Our u17 and u20 hurling teams play in a revamped ulster championship and have struggled at times over the last number of years , but then progress to B level competition in Leinster where we are only just competitive and hang on by the finger nails. In Ulster football we are a mile off the top teams and that gap is not narrowing. The introduction of an Ulster B competition is welcome, but as EOC said, we need rid of the dysfunctional & outdated provisional system and have a graded all Ireland competition as already happens at Academy Squad level up to u16 and works really well, so the model is there.

It's actually our U-16s play in the Ulster U-17 championship (and won it last week)

Think Corrigan is the only option as the pitch is getting relaid anyway

Quote from: Na Glinntí Glasa on February 23, 2026, 09:26:14 AMMuch better yesterday all over the pitch and its good to get a win under the belt.

Keelan Molloy was a big miss this past few games and had a fine game in midfield. The players it seems have rallied behind each other and its good to see.

On another note the pitches are a mare at the moment with the weather and constant rain and Corrigan was laid bare for that fact. You can see why the pitches are remaining closed for clubs with the condition they would be left in after a game.

I assume Dunloy aren't keen on hosting the Dublin game ?

Quote from: erinsboy on February 22, 2026, 06:53:56 PMA brighter weekend for the Saffrons with good wins in all 4 codes.Hopefully this lifts the mood in the camp going forward as the footballers confidence must have been low.

Anyone know why Corrigan has only been available today for the county. I watched the hurling today expecting to see some sort of upgrade to the pitch or surrounding facilities, but it was the same old place.
Pitch didn't look in good shape either if it was the intention to rest it.

Pitch was due to be totally relaid a few weeks ago but due to weather couldn't be. Plan is to do it in next few weeks. That's why it was due to be out of action all year for Antrim

Quote from: podge on February 01, 2026, 08:19:51 PMThe physicality gap was huge today.  The number of 6ft plus lads in that Clare is incredible and they are probably a small team relative to say Limerick.

I thought Seaan Elliot was lively throughout.  Keelan molloy and Johnson did well when introduced albeit the game was dead at that stage.  Duffin in fairness battled hard and won a lot of frees.

I also think it was more than harsh on McKay getting hauled off after 25mins to bring on McLaughlin (who was poor) when Boyle and Walsh hadn't struck leather at that point.

It was also notable how easy it seemed to be for them to get long puck outs to their men.  Despite having a 1 man full forward line we seemed to be incapable of closing the space on their puck outs.  Meanwhile, we went short on puck outs and the receiving player was under pressure straight away.

Yeah thought it was unfair on McKay but that's Davy for you, pick the young player who isn't established.

Every back was taking on water at that time and as for on out the field.

Anyone seriously think a manager from Antrim couldn't serve up what Davy has given us & save us £100k plus ?

We have the egos of Tony Shivers etc to thank for that though. Box office, eh ?

Quote from: gallsman on January 26, 2026, 07:17:30 AMIt's called a Guardian Cap. They've been mandatory in practice for a number of position groups for a few years. Last year was the first season where they were allowed wear them in games.

Seems like a no-brainer (geddit?!) but some players don't like the additional weight.

I forget the player who said he knows it's safer to wear them but it didnt look cool basically, so he wouldn't  ???

Edit - It messes up everybody's swag on the field," Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman told ESPN. "You will never see me wearing that in a game."

Quote from: Blowitupref on January 21, 2026, 07:51:52 PMPoor conditions, the co commentator is busy with all correcting he has to do with Jerome.

Umpires with no flags is poor for those involved. Half time Queens 0-8 UU 0-5.  A correction on the scoreline now.

If Jerome would just stop talking for a second and pay attention to the game it would be a much better product
