Weirdest moment in any of his shows was him sitting in the back of a cop car having a full scale conversation as Gaeilge with a couple of NYPD's finest.

If the truth be known, he embarrasses us because he reminds us of ourselves as a set of people - a bit like the role Albert Reynolds used to fill for the country at large. Hector is a pretty good representation of a kind of loud half-eejit messer you'd find on a barstool in any pub in Meath. He'd be mildly amusing at first but after a while you want him to feck off and annoy someone else, well out of your earshot.

So proud he left there as soon as he could. ;D

Poor old Hector had a rough time of it after the 2001 All-Ireland. A bunch of us used to play in the same soccer league as him. He took the ribbing well in fairness. Even from his own teammates.

I like him, think he's funny, thought his travel shows were great, "hanging with hector" wasnt that great but wasnt bad. must take a look at this later
It won't be the next manager but the one after that Meath will become competitive again - MO'D 2016

I'd imagine him to be a suffocating guy in person but you have to hand it to him, he got thousands of extra people watching TG4 and talking about his antics. His image has taken a bit of a battering due to his over exposure in all media forms. A bit like U2, they were the best thing ever when they first came to prominence, then many people got tired of them being constantly in the news and now people just take them as they see them. Maybe the Hector cycle will rotate this way..........can't see him slipping away quietly anyway !
As someone said earlier the trick is not to take him too seriously.
