A combination of keeping defence contractors in clover. keeping Israel happy and a crazy notion about increasing oil supplies to keep the price of oil down (that worked out well).

Ya even in 1776, the war was won by the French Navy off the East Coast, the Spanish Navy off the Gulf of Mexico and Florida Coast, with French soldiers providing support to American troops. They even got a sort of Marshall plan from Dutch & French banks, after the new country was nearly bankrupt and the Dutch and French cancelled the debt!!!!!!!!

I wish Americans would remember only for the French they would be spelling color, colour

Going broke to be the superpowers not winning the support of intelligent American people. 800 billion spent every year on "defense" , while the bridges,highways and. Infrastructure fall apart and china loans them the money to keep up the charade.
800 military bases spread over 135 countries costs a lot of money, and getting annoyed when others build up their countries defenses is a bit rich. I think more and more Americans are tiring of the cost of being the boss of the world.
