Looks like Mullagh could get a second chance.
Sunday's Galway county hurling final between Loughrea and Portumna has been postponed in the expectation that Mullagh are going to lodge an appeal against the staging of the semi-final against Loughrea.
It's believed they want the game declared null and void as Miko Ryan who resigned as Galway hurling board chairman last week was suspended when he chaired the fixtures committee which fixed the game between Loughrea and Mullagh.
Four Mullagh players and two officials will appear this eveving before a hearings committee of Galway's hurling board in relation to incidents arising from the game.
In which referee Christy Helebert who took charge of the Galway Hurling semi-final between Mullagh and Loughrea only left the pitch 10 minutes after the final whistle before being escorted by Gardai to his dressing-room. In his match report, he alleges he was assaulted by three Mullagh players.who will face 48 week suspensions if they are found guilty.
The problems arose when Helebert awarded Loughrea a match winning free in the last minute to the disgust of the Mullagh Players who were trying to reach there first County Final since 1966.
