Is McIlroy actually a choker or is he just overrated?

I'd say it's more the latter. I wouldn't have called Lleyton Hewitt a choker for instance, he just broke on the scene at a weak era, won a few slams in that brief weak era and then fell off the radar when better players came along. I would say that's very similar to McIlroy.

If the field was a lot weaker now, McIlroy would be winning majors but the reality is there's probably 10-15 or so better players out there for the past 6/7 years than him and he just has a very sensitive fanbase who have issues dealing with that.
I wouldn't say he is a choker, Majors are hard to win, so many players in with a chance and virtually all the top ranked golfers in the field. It is relatively easier to win weaken week out events on the PGA tour, but still no picnic. I see majors as Championship and the normal weekly events as league in GAA terms. Thats what makes them exciting and someone like Danny Willet can strike gold (or Rich Beem) never to feature again. I wouldn't discount McIlroy winning another but I don't think it will be the masters.

McIlroy IS a great golfer that is not up for debate but there is no doubt with his natural talent he should be winning more majors. The worrying thing for Rory is that he was a better player 10 yrs ago than he is now when he really should be at his peak. Its a bit like Seve. Seve was by far and away the most naturally talented golfer of his era but inconsistency and injury meant he won far fewer majors than he should have.

Keyser soze

Had a wee punt on Leyton Hewitt for the British Open there.

I once bet on Formula One driver Nigel Mansell to win the Austalian Golf Open. He let me down badly.

No doubt similar has been discussed here before. But what would be your Top 5 courses? I'm very fortunate to have played some of the best courses on this island but are there any gems I'm missing. I intend to spend this summer ticking more off the list. In no particular order 5 favourites would be:

Murvagh
Narin and Portnoo
Kinsale
Killarney
Enniscrone

mackers

Portrush
RCD
Enniscrone
The Heritage
Concra Wood
Keep your pecker hard and your powder dry and the world will turn.
