Love watching McCurry - class act.

As someone from Letterkenny I can tell you that I want both a motorway to Dublin AND to Galway. But any Donegal person will tell you that the Dublin connection and the improvement of the A5 is the first priority.

Is money holding this road up?

It's been so long since i added attachments to a post I forget what you do to link the exact Twittter thread.

But the A5 group have been posting daily about what is happening.

Today the objections were the potential damage to moss. (??!!)

Imagine sitting through that having lost a loved one.
This isn't the only road in the world. France builds roads without being help up by opposition groups. So does the Netherklands. If they deserve money they get it.
Why is nobody in charge here ?

I blame neoliberalism

What a performance in a Game 7. Just ridiculous.

Great season for the Kings - they are on the up.

Use Twitter daily as my customised newsfeed - I never post, just read. The single best thing about it: if you don't like what someone is saying then unfollow/block them; don't like a certain topic, then mute it. Honestly the people who get the most annoyed about twitter are the ones who go searching through replies for things to be annoyed about. Had a facebook account but deleted it a few years ago as my relatives are boring.

Let's get through the rest of this year, try to get our house in order with the CB and the Academy, and rebuild some faith in the whole structure. Championship wise, I'd settle for no (more) humiliations.

Very good episode. Slightly off topic and apologies if its already been covered but were Donegal originally green with yellow band or was that an away jersey? Did they later swap to yellow and green? In a lot of big games in the 80s and 90s they seemed to wear green & yellow.

You're right. Green with yellow band up till manybe late 80's? Early 90's? Forget TBH.

8
   Donegal   5   1   1   3   58   76   3

Next round of fixtures is as follows:

Armagh v Galway
Kerry v Roscommon
Monaghan v Tyrone
Donegal v Mayo

I think Kerry will beat Roscommon at home but the other games are all difficult to predict. Armagh and Galway will both want to guarantee their safety with a win. If Armagh lose they could go into the last game in Omagh needing points to stay up, which is definitely not ideal. The loser of Monaghan v Tyrone will also be in grave danger of relegation. Mayo are the only side guaranteed safety and subconsciously you would imagine that they are already in championship preparation mode. Donegal are playing them at a good time and they are difficult to beat in Ballybofey so it would not surprise me if Donegal won that match.

One thing for sure is that this might be the most open championship race we have had for about a decade. Kerry are probably still out in front in terms of their scoring threat and squad depth but they certainly don't look as capable of dominating as Dublin were in their pomp.

Donegal have never lost i believe to Mayo in Ballybofey.

We lost to Mayo in Ballybofey in 2018 when Kevin McLoughlin scored a goal to get the draw and to relegate us.  :( :( :(

This post doesn't make a lick of sense especially when you consider the score that day was 0-13 to 0-13.

It's not complicated. We had to beat Mayo to stay up in the division. We were at home in our 'fortress'. We were 3 points up with seconds to go. We got relegated. No matter the score line there was a winner and a loser that day and it was the Mayo folks driving home smiling. So yes it was a draw, but it was really a loss.

Haven't got hold of it yet, but it looks decent, and honest, from this excerpt about the aftermath of 1992 and his retirement:

Thanks for sharing that J70 - I hadn't seen it. It seems well-written and (as you say) honest).

Typical Donegal, both should be thrown out and banned for life. Only 5 points scored in 59 minutes? Disgraceful.

On a serious note, hope the lad is ok. U21's can be a funny age. Melees would have been the standard for 90% of games I ever watched or played in at that age level.

So in 10 games you've watched or played in at that level there was 9 melee's? Christ that's wild, there's the odd dust up here and there but if they are anything like what was reported above at that ratio then there's is something wrong in Armagh
Well maybe 90% is abit exaggerated and a lot were more pushing and shoving than melees lol but it's that age where a lot of lads maybe try and act the hard fella abit more. Just my experience.

Under 16 was the age group (from refereeing) was the most difficult, you really needed to apply a different set of tolerances to fouls, they take it very personal at that age

Interesting. I took an U15 team for the first time this year and I noticed this exact thing. So much pride to get bruised!
Saw plenty of U15 games in Armagh last year. Mostly i thought the refs allowed kids with the ball to be battered too often with not enough done to curtail closed fist tackles.  Reactions from the victims were plentiful.

D Championship semifinal ... about 5 minutes in, the ref loudly shouts ... "as lads it's only U15's, it doesn't really matter"  ;D ;D.
Talk about a red rag to a bull.

Gutted to hear this, but time and tide ...

The football is only one part of this man. Always a gentleman, with time for all supporters and kids. Turned down a chance to go to Oz because of his genuine love for the area he's from. Modest and unassuming. Took his position as a role-model for others very seriously, while never taking himself too seriously.

A Donegal great, who happened to be pretty good at football as well.
