General discussion / Re: Premier League 2025-26

Arteta made a big mistake a few years ago in settling for a draw against City in the run in. Should have laid down a marker and tried to seize momentum as that City were always likely to go on a streak for run-in.

I think this time round a draw leaves it very difficult for this City to win the league. So expect a dour spectacle in their showdown. If Arsenal stay undefeated, realistically 4 wins gets them the league. That's 16 points plus the current gap of 7 leaving City needing to win all the other 8 games. I don't think they will.

I don't want City to win, but if Arteta takes the chicken shit approach, which most likely he will, I don't particularly think Arsenal deserve to win either.

Quote from: AustinPowers on March 02, 2026, 02:21:07 PMMad to think United are third after such a  poor season.

4 or 5 Carrick wins  was all it took.

Chelsea Liverpool Villa Newcastle have all had disappointing seasons so  it's more to  do with that that United are currently third
Villa after their great start are looking like going back to their real level, Liverpool have started picking up points recently and could very possibly take 3rd place, Chelsea are decent but not amazing.

Think football in general isn't at the level it was at years ago, none of the big boys in Europe are that hot, Arsenal are a horrible team winning games from wrestling matches in corners, City and Liverpool are nowhere near the prime Pep/Klopp teams.
To be fair they have done well after an awful start. First 4 or 5 games they couldn't score a goal. Season a bit like that for everyone, you can be poor put then shoot up the table with any sort of form.

Quote from: Look-Up! on March 02, 2026, 02:42:38 PMUtd looking very good for 3rd. Great win for Arsenal but long way to go yet. Cup final in 3 weeks will be HUGE for momentum. Then away to City again 3 weeks after that. Title decider game you'd imagine. Gap between them should still be small whoever's in front.

Villa wobbling badly. Liverpool picking up a bit of momentum. Other end Spurs in serious bother, very lucky Forest have a complete spanner as owner. West Ham a further 4 points back which is a significant gap for teams down there struggling to pick up a point a game, but on the other hand it can vanish in an instant if a team hits form and meets opponents already on the beach.

Just on VAR, what an absolute cluster f**k it is. Was supposed to cut out the controversy of officiating but it has increased it multiple fold. Ridiculous red and penalty decision in Utd game. Watched the Bournemouth v Sunderland game and Sunderland had a guy taken out from behind as he was about to pull the trigger. Barged in the back and heels clipped. Defender no where near the ball. Would have been a penalty 50 years ago never mind today. Ref waved play on and VAR didn't intervene. Different rules for different teams. Absolute joke. Turning me off watching games.

Another note that Villa havent even been awarded a single PL penalty this season, despite instances that seem to go favourably for certainly clubs
Yeah lads in Stockley Park seem to be drinking tay and ateing bikkies with their backs to screens when certain clubs are playing. Then for others they're micro analysing every little incident in the game pulling new rules out of their arse.

The perfect draw to shut him up lol,

Mental gymnastics to say it's ok to play Israel
I'm not saying it's ok to play Israel.

I'm saying Irish soccer will be set back 20 years if they don't.

The smugness from within the GAA who wouldn't even allow a discussion about a genocide supporting sponsor seems a bit off. Surely the rock and a hard place concept is understood?
Can we be set back 30? Might actually qualify for a WC.

Can't imagine that'll go down too well with the players. Depending on who he now recruits, morale could drop through the floor. 5/2 odds for relegation very good price.

It seems common enough to down tools for the manager, but downing tools to the person that pays your wages is different craic
Wouldn't view it that simple. Forest had plenty of well document managerial problems this season. I think Dyce has done a great job from where he came in. Their current form was decent, 9 from 6, and above the drop zone, so obviously making headway with players. This totally upsets the apple cart. Mouthing off to players as well, who now have to get used to another manager and system. Totally bonkers decision more like Russian roulette.

Coupled with West Ham eventually coming into a bit of form, 10 from 6. Their run ins are not easy but very similar. One result could swing it so seems very much a coin toss between one of the two. At least Spurs and Leeds fans will be hoping it's these two. 5/2 on Forest looks very generous to me.

Never heard of Bad Bunny before. Not really into rap. Repetitive bitching about their problems in life to repetitive music, essentially the same as the bitching you get in honky-tonk music. I got my own problems thanks. Generally you need to be able to understand the language to listen to it too.

So wasn't expecting much from the half time show after having listened to a few of his tracks beforehand on Spotify and everything in Spanish. But I have to say I enjoyed it probably much more than a lot of previous half time shows. Brilliant set, dancing and great energy. Was in Rio for carnival years ago and got a similar vibe off it at times.

Not locking the car. I mean, how hard is it to push the button on the keys!
Having to run to the ditch for a pee just as the warmup starts.

Mrs Tbrick sets the key in the centre console - and leaves it there when she gets out. Without locking.
then the keys can't be found next time leaving the house.
Only a matter of time until someone nicks the car.
Better have a good story cos insurance won't pay out if you are honest with them.

Bit ironic it's a lazy hoor thread and people are complaining about how some stack the dishwasher. A brush, sink and 10 minutes of your time serves just as good for 90% of it.

Quote from: bennydorano on November 10, 2023, 01:05:19 PMOut of interest did anyone bother with that Pi proto currency that was prominent a couple of years ago? (you can mine on your phone, when it eventually goes live, cash in). Unsurprisingly a lot of mixed opinions about it, scam, data harvesting etc.. I was of the opinion to give it a go, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Still mining away on my phone, no sign of the cash out tho
I see Pi went live there a few weeks ago. Currently sitting at $1.70 odd. Think you can cash in but it still has sketchy vibes. I have a few hundred units sitting there.
Hope you cashed out

Quote from: Look-Up! on February 04, 2026, 01:18:35 PMWindow closed so the die is cast anyway at this stage. Missing out on CL because of injuries is a risk worth taking and do a proper recruitment come summer. Casemiro is said to be on 350K a week. You'd imagine you should be able be find two very good midfielders for 175K a week. Mbeumo is on 150k for reference. And that's not even mentioning the other high rollers who don't even play for the club.
You'd imagine Bruno must be staying beyond this year with Casemiro leaving, getting that 350k a week gone is obviously great as long as you can find those 2 175k a week players who can replace him.

Did I see that Collyer was recalled from his loan? Not a world beater but at least he's another body and can't be any worse than Ugarte.
Bruno, a January signing no less, is class and has been from the first day he stepped into the club. It's a no brainer to keep him. It's always a risk signing players but that's the nature of the beast. They'll have the ability to dip into the top end of the market come summer. It'll work or it won't but as long as they don't go crazy again and wages are not a barrier for offloading if it doesn't work out, they've no other choice.

Think Collyer at Hull.
