I enjoyed Sinners but it's a reflection of how shit movies are these days that it got so many nominations.

Surprised DiCaprio got nominated too. Just a standard performance from him. I haven't saw any of the films up for Best Actress so can't comment on that.

No excuses for City when they have 50 million back up players in every position.

Quote from: maldini on January 13, 2026, 09:35:57 PMAs I said last Sunday about the Wirtz goal, they've picked and chosen when to use this 5cm rule
In fact it was actually unheard of before last Sunday
Did they just make it up to cover up a mistake?
Haaland was millimeters off if even after the VAR checks it with a magnifying glass for seven minutes

Why no 5cm rule here?

The games finished

Probably different rules, regarding the 5cm thing, for the PL and Cup.

Exceptionally bad. Don't know how they thought it was a good idea to stretch it to nearly 3 hours also.

Fun, action film. DiCaprio is good as a washed-up, stoned, former leftist terrorist trying to raise his daughter under an assumed identity, but Sean Penn steals the show as a far right colonel out to cover his past tracks as he tries to get accepted for membership in a wealthy, secret, elite white supremacist club. The background stuff is very on topic for what's going on in the US with Trump's immigration round-ups.

Bit disorientating as a film, seemed like 6 or 7 potential movies rough cut together, I'm sure that was a deliberate choice and parts of it work rightly, without Sean Penn's performance it would be the biggest bag of dung you've seen, he was class

Watched Milk over Christmas, decent oul show about gay rights in San Francisco through the 60s and 70s, Sean Penn did a good job of it, plenty in the supporting cast who went to do to good things as well

It wasn't far off the biggest bag of dung with Penns performance or not.

Have any Division 3 or 4 teams won or got near a Kerry or Cavan Senior championship title?

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on January 12, 2026, 08:39:59 AMFinished Stranger Things, this was a show my kids got into when they were kids! They probably only watched 2 episodes and never bothered with it.. Great over all, good journey for them and I'm sure the cast are glad they are finished with it..

I suppose it could be left open for more, I thought the fat kid was hiding something at end lol but maybe not..

Anyways hoping for some new decent sci-fi stuff coming soon

I love a good time traveling type show

Time travel shows or films are my favourite, but not many good ones about. The last good time travel film I saw was Project Almanac.

He used a word that is in the dictionary and didn't say 'The Holocaust'. But, as said, plenty of more commonly used words or phrases that could have been used, so the woke brigade will be out in full force over this and he'll be lucky if he isn't labelled as an anti-semite and blacklisted.

Quote from: gallsman on January 05, 2026, 12:21:56 PMHe's a prat! Bought a Texas ranch and decided to write it into his show FFS.

I gave up on Yellowstone halfway through season 2 as I thought it was terrible. Pick up tidbits here and there of what unfolded afterwards on YouTube and whatnot and it sounds like it only got more preposterous.
You could be onto something there- 1923 season 1 was very good, was set up to be a brilliant second season which was poor, Landman the same so far. 1883 was excellent and only 1 season.

Seems like he has a very good idea, takes it so far and then has no idea how to wrap it up or develop it further. Probably far too many projects going on at the same time as well.

I thought 1923 was far better than 1883.

Sisu 2 not as good as the first one.

Five Nights at Freddys 2 was dung.

Knives Out 3 dung also.

Stranger Things final season was pretty poor.

Welcome to Derry was ok, heard bad reports about it before it started so I went in with low expectations.

Quote from: seafoid on January 01, 2026, 06:32:26 PMThe big fire in Switzerland (over 40 dead) was caused by champagne sparklers close to a wooden roof. Insanity. This is a promo for the bar

You wouldn't expect the place to go up the way it did from sparklers though.

Finished The Americans yesterday, pretty satisfying ending to be honest.
