No real surprise didn't think they'd risk McKinless from the start and he's a great impact sub.
No Murphy on the bench??

Good angle to show that Lane didn't see the incident at the time. Turn round due to the crowd's reaction
So he turned around, observed a player lying on the ground and an opponent standing over him, but didn't think to stop play to adjudicate.
That seems like good refereeing.
So are you saying you want the referee to stop play every time that situation arises?
So a team on the attack in the final minutes of a game, a player on the defending hits the ground, the crowd reacts, referee stops play, consults all his other officials, nobody seen anything. Play restarts with a free to the attacking team which they aren't allowed to score from and the defending team are now set with everyone back and marking their opponents.
Fair point.
But is he not in communication with his supporting officials, i.e. when a linesman witnesses an actual legitimate assault/incident and informs the referee of the incident. It seemed like the linesman saw that happen yesterday.

Quote from: Wildweasel74 on April 01, 2024, 12:31:09 AMThink that Chrissy McKaigue, the only man to win each of the 4 Divisional titles. Hard believe 5 yrs ago in Ballinascreen. There was only 300 odd supporters at a fball /hurling double header. Surely any lower team got to look at Derry and say why can't we do it too.Don't think he has a division 2 title (despite finishing top of the league)

I wonder how many other teams did.Quote from: seafoid on March 18, 2024, 05:45:28 AMQuote from: imtommygunn on March 17, 2024, 07:03:59 PMKerry and Dublin are the only two with the depth who can pull themselves out of any hole they may find themselves in. The rest take it seriously enough. The likes of Tyrone and maybe Galway have got wake up calls in the league. Tyrone will be better for it but Galway need to keep players like comer and Walsh fit to be all the better for it. A final in it is no big deal though. There are 8 teams in Div 1
Kerry and Dublin make 2
Tyrone and Galway "got wake up calls"
Roscommon and Monaghan didn't "take it seriously"
"the rest" = Mayo and Derry !
Teams getting beat doesn't mean they're not taking it seriously.
Quote from: Main Street on December 11, 2023, 11:40:14 PMQuote from: clarshack on December 10, 2023, 09:28:49 PMThere were 4 goal chances in the 2nd half, one long ball went to D Hughes who fisted, hit the post and somehow miraculously stayed out. The second went to Darren again when he could've taken a point but there was a point from a free in the same play. The third was what you could say was a missed point when after a brilliant piece of play an effort at goal went amiss, the 4th was K Hughes, the last shot of the game which (unfortunately) went straight to the goalie.Quote from: Armagh18 on December 10, 2023, 09:18:43 PMThought Scotstown had a couple of chances to go for points and went for goals instead which proved their downfall. McCarron also gave couple of silly balls away late on.
My thoughts too.
Going for goals was not the undoing of Scotstown, they started the 2nd half strongly and were ahead by a point on the 50th min. Simply put Glen were the better team in those last 10 minutes even if the ref in error penalised McCarron for over-carrying, didn't notice that he had only taken 3 steps. Glenn scored 3 points in the closing minutes from similar positions that Scotstown couldnĀ“t.

Did they not win it last year or the year before?
They won it last year but Galbally beat them well in Ulster. If they win Derry again this year can they play in Ulster?

Was confirmed the other day that Derry will wear red and Cork white.
I hate it myself, white and red band is the Derry jersey I grew up with (except for when we played that shower next door).
Looks like Derry see the red jersey as lucky jersey now.
From a Tyrone supporter Derry Jersey majority white is way better. Reminds me of anthony tokkkil kicking ass. And sure u never won an all ireland in a majority red one??
