Decided to make this to hear facts and opinions based on our 8 clubs competing in the intermediate grade this year.
Ballylinan
Portlaoise (II)
Mountmellick
Annanough
Timahoe
Kilcavan
Park Ratheniska
Arles Kilcruise

The north side of the county saw great success last night with the wins from kilcavan and an unexpected thumping of Ballylinan by Mountmellick.

SCFC

Mountmellick must be early favourites. Very impressive the other night. Finn Culleton gave an unreal display. Fast, exciting young team.
Ballylinan look to be in bother. They might well get back to a semi-final or final but hard to see them repeat 2023.

Joeythelips

6-17 against any side is seriously impressive. Clearly they will take beating.
Kilcavan had a good win but judging by the starting line up they have lost a couple of starting players from last year and may not have the depth of squad, Park also had a good win over Kilcruise also.

What way does this championship work? I assume those games were not knockout?

Same as senior.

The four losers drawn against each other, same with winners.

les Antiques

Annanough v Kilcavan, Mountmellick v Park and Timahoe v Ballylinan potentially all close encounters this weekend.
Surely there will be a reaction from Ballylinan .

Laois man

Would mmellick be favourites to win it out this year? Have they a strong panel strong second team to back them up?

les Antiques

They will be there or thereabouts . Not a lot between 3/4 teams . Not sure what's going on in Ballylinan.
Simon Fingelton huge loss for Park but new rules seem to suit them .

The PRO

Wasn't at either game this evening but took in Ballylinan v Timahoe last night.
Great atmosphere. Games in these smaller venues are the way to go.
Timahoe very limited. Damien O'Connor doing his best to drive them on from centre back. Lalor did well for the two goals but they had a lot of difficulties not least trying to handle Gary Walsh. Ryan Brady was good too. As was corner back Paddy Julian.
Looks like IFC is wide open. PR, Kilcavan through to semis and Ballylinan, Mountmellick and Annanough will all fancy their chances of bouncing back too.

Arles fortunate enough to get over the line against Portlaoise yesterday.

Won by a point with the winner coming from a free awarded for the 3 back rule because Brody went on one of his solo runs and no extra portlaoise player stayed back.

It was the second time they were pulled up for this and they were lucky to get away for a similar infringement prior to the last minute one.

Arles started brightly in the first half and let by 8 points at one stage but let Portlaoise in for a couple of sloppy goals.
Tough game next against Mountmellick and likely to be down a couple of players.

Does anyone know the dates pencilled in for the intermediate semi finals and final?

Cheers SCFC, that is a big gap between matches, bloody hell. I can't make the semi final weekend so hope to God they can make the final.

Arles knock Mountmellick out of the championship.
I'd consider that a pretty big surprise.
They looked incredibly good in the first round and I thought they were championship favourites.

Serious win for Ballylinan who hammered Annanough by 14 points. Have they had players return from travel or what, they have been awful all year but that was some win, Annanough are no mugs. Ballylinan would surely be favs on the back of that display, although Arles also had a very impressive win over a fancied Mountmellick. When do we know the semi final pairings?
