Down / Joe Mcdonagh Cup
May 29, 2025, 06:23:53 PM
Didn't have a great year in Joe Mcdonagh Cup but still didn't slip too much to be heading for the Christy Ring Cup beat Kerry and sent them on their way. Obviously wasn't what was to be desired but the main thing is to come back next year and will be in division 1b for league after toppling Kildare to win division 2 who have shown that there is merit in beating now that they've made it to the Joe Mcdonagh Cup Final after a few unexpected wins and not that they didn't deserve it just no one gave them a chance.

Hurling Discussion / Leinster championship 2024
May 26, 2025, 05:26:21 PM
Personally I found this very suspicious and honestly think it was done to prevent uproar of a traditional leinster Championship side being relegated to the joe mcdonagh cup, the same happened after laois beat dublin in 2019 they increased the number of teams in the Leinster championship

I was just wondering what the size of the hurling areas in different counties is because for example Laois with a population of 90,000 the hurling area is only a population of about 30,000 and you won't find a hurling club in the east of the county. Which in my opinion is one of the main reasons why Laois are where they are too good for the Joe Mcdonagh Cup but not good enough for the Leinster Championship

Laois / Hurling league 2026
May 17, 2025, 09:02:23 PM
It is clear from the Joe Mcdonagh Cup that Laois are way ahead of the other teams including Down and Kildare who as it stands currently will be a division higher than Laois in 2026, it wont be good for laois hurling or for hurling in other counties in division 2 league to have laois in it next year Laois should make a proposal to prevent them from being relegated as it stands currently Laois could be playing in the division 2 league(3rd tier) and the Leinster championship next year.

Anyone know who is in with the panel this year many newcomers or retiring, not comitting or travelling?
