Thank f**k we bate them if that's the way they get on. By all accounts a character building performance with plenty of quality in the second half! 2 wins in 18 months hopefully the run keeps going next week!

Ye and ye're two All Irelands.

The most bitter supporters in Ireland. I was up there back the noughties. Horrible experience. Enjoy the win.

Was it a game in ballinascreen? That was fun.

I remember that game.
gary Coleman had his leg stamped on and needed his calf stitched due to a deep gash.
twas a dirty dig.

That was a great occasion; an incredible level of bitterness. We lost a lot by moving games away from screen.

No. In Celtic Park. Never forget it. They were bitter out.

Where am I going with two AIs. They have one. 🤣

Yip, just the one. Doesn't compete with your 98 year wait for another one, where you needed a Derry man to win it for you. And we're behind you with Tailteann cup wins too.

But we're still the good guys.

Was at an aul game yesterday and spent most of half time and a decent chunk of the second half inadvertently listening to a current inter-county manager and a former inter-county manager discuss today's opponents in great detail.
Would have thought the research would have been done much earlier.

Anyone else remember the late gaaboard poster whose father was stabbed to death by someone who went on to chair a GAA club?

Derry / Re: Derry Club Football & Hurling original

A couple of recent deaths among the Derry GAA family worthy of a mention here. The legendary Packie Farrell from ballinascreen would have needed no introduction to folk of my generation. And John McVey, formerly of magherafelt and newbridge; still a young man and a superb singer in his youth.

May they both rest in peace.

The Rebel County.. eh?

Rebel in they do what they want and not held to outside peer pressure
Rebel in that they promote a firm that is complicit in genocide 👏

Take a day off..
Maybe you should heed your own advice.

You are anonymous on here. Jarlath won't ride you

He's probably the least anonymous person on here. Certainly since Tony Fearon left.

Quote from: barelegs on February 08, 2026, 06:42:51 PMThought McNally gave Abbey a couple of very soft frees at the start of the second half to get them back into the game. One brought up for not handing the ball back when no Abbey player even tried to get the ball was a bit mystifying.

It'll be interesting to see how the teams adapt on Friday. Abbey were able to alter their kick outs at half time and secure them in the second half, where Dungannon had serious joy in the first half. Dungannon weren't able to secure any kickouts across the game. Even the frees they got under the posts were just humped as far up the field as the keeper could manage.

Technically a correct decision but showed everything that is wrong with the rule and its implementation. Academy player threw the ball back, possibly because he was too far away from anyone to hand it back. As you say, nobody claimed for the advancement, but mcnally was within his rights to bring it forward.

There was a similar incident in the first half when an academy player slammed the ball straight into an abbey player's midriff, the abbey boy reacted and the ref threw it up.

Quote from: Smokin Joe on February 08, 2026, 04:49:46 PMDungannon played like a team who thought they had the game won at half time.
They were destroyed in play all throughout the game, only for the purple patch by their forwards in that 15 minute spell in the game it was like men against boys.
Dungannon could barely string an attack all second half.  In saying that I thought McNally definitely went hard on Dungannon in the opening 15 minutes of the 2nd half.  Any sort of contact was a free to the Abbey, and it wasn't the same the other way.

Funny how people see things differently. I thought O'Rourke was brutalised throughout the game and got absolutely no protection from McNally.

Good game, but I think abbey may have missed the boat.

:D first win in 582 days..  Derry running out of Tyrone managers 😂🤣

Yes, but he's guaranteed himself a decent run at things.

Will Malachy still be there come championship?
Considering he got them to the All Ireland semi-final last year.. what do you think? 😊
You don't have to get a new manager every year!

Honestly, I just listen to the Tyrone men in work. You stitched up two bona fide Tyrone legends, even before the championship had begun.
