Helix.

Very surprised Noel McGrath not in category for hurler of the year. Take nothing away from the 3 nominated. I thought Horgan mightn't have got nominated on basis of only getting to quarter finals.

Horgan was probably the only reason Cork got out of Munster but his tour de force against Kilkenny still wasn't enough. He merits his inclusion but I think this years belongs to Callanan.

Mullen will get the young hurler as much for his exploits with Ballyhale as giving Kilkenny another serious outlet in their forwards that they badly need.

The Wedger

Rowland has to get one. I can't believe that Laois only have one All Star for a county that was close to the top table for the 80s and most of the 90s.

Think John Taylor was in line for one in the '80s, but had been sent off that year, which in those days automatically disqualified him.

As a Laoisman, I'd love to see Rowland get one. He was pivotal in the win over Dublin, whereas I can't recall Murphy or Hogan being pivotal in any of their counties' victories. He also played very well in the McDonagh Cup, but would the selection panel take this into account? After all, there's only Buff Egan's footage from some of those matches, including the brilliant penalty save against Antrim.

When is it announced?

In fairness they should have kept the McDonagh Cup all stars. Whatever about Laois getting nominations for the main all star awards the likes of Westmeath, Carlow etc deserve better. Rackard, Ring etc have their own awards so why omit McDonagh?
The real glory is being knocked to your knees and then coming back. That's real glory. VinceLombardi
