Aughnamullen lost by 2 points, think they let in 2 softish goals.

Btw they were only allowed to have a 24 man panel by the Ulater council - is there any need for this limit, leaving young lads disappointed?

was at the crossmaglen match yesterday and they had at least 15 subs on the benh where as st.galls seemd to comply to that ulster rule, i think if you name only 24 you will get away with it, hard luck to aughnamullen yesterday thought they might win it,
if in doubt eat it

Nice to see Castleblaney used in the middle of winter, what with our mediterranean climate.  Ah well, at least they have a covered stand....oh, wait......

Last year Blayney was picked as a venue for 2 games in the McKenna cup ended up with none.  The Armagh and St. Marys games were changed to Clones instead.  But its the only venue with good enough floodlights for a midweek game.
Good to see the last game is in Ballybay - I believe their venue is in good shape now.

thebandit

Ballybay is in great shape - access is terrible though

Goats Do Shave

Lads - just looking to guage opinion on Paul Turley - I believe he was over a team in Monaghan ths last couple of years (Not sure which) - any opinions??? - He's took over our club team.

Did anyone hear what hapened in the league semi final last night? Abandoned due to fighting I think?

Mid Mon

Played on the open floodlit pitch in Corduff, I heard it was pretty serious with more than just the teams involved.
Both teams to be banned resulting in tonight's match being the final. Don't know who I'd rather win that hate the 2 of them.

Spot the Monaghan jersey on the right of the picture!

Damien Freemand got Four Months, as did Francie Doogan and Paul Jones. Peter Ward got 12 months, while Tommy got two months. For Latton, Edmund Lennon and Kevin Hughes got 4 months.

No word on the clubs punishment. I take that as these aren't normall suspesions that they will affect the County as well.

Yep, set to effect county games too - so basically no freemans for McKenna Cup as it will be completed in January, and no Damien for a good part of the leagur either.  Not good.
Although i'd image we'll have the usual appeals and suspensions halved etc.

Monaghan deny suspension reports

Monaghan officials have denied that any bans have yet been handed out arising from the abandonment of the recent club game between Magheracloone and Latton.
Damien Freeman was reported to have received a four-month ban while his brother Thomas was said to have been hit with a two-month suspension.

A Monaghan county board statement said that players had been notified of "proposed penalties".

The two clubs were competing in the Monaghan League Football semi-final.

Tuesday's reports said that Magheracloone's Peter Ward had been handed a 12-month ban while Latton's Edmund Lennon and Kevin Hughes had received four-month suspensions.

The fracas started when Lennon and Damien Freeman were dismissed in the second half with Latton holding a 2-4 to 0-6 lead at the time.

Following from that I've heard the Latton players won't be playing if Damien Freeman is Captain of the team. Also heard that the Latton/Maghercloone players are togging out in separate rooms at Cloghan. Should be an interesting weekend in Sunderland  ;D

Freeman has got away with loads over the last couple of years including one very seriuos incident that was brushed under the carpet. Was surprised at the County Boards quick response to the media stories and was wondering who released the suspensions. It had to be someone on the County Board or sub-committee. Was pressure then put on them to lessen the blow?

If this is the case then its a absolute disgrace and belittles the whole disciplinary process.

RONAN

Following a request by the family of the late Emon Coleman, a special day of celebration to mark the life of the man himself is currently been organised for Saturday 7th June 2008, the first anniverasry of his death. On the day there will be a game between Derrys 93 All Ireland winning team and an Irish select of past and present players who played for and against Eamon.

Later in the evening an Informal Dinner will take place in a specialised marquee on the premises of St Treas Ballymaguigan Co Derry, which of course was Eamons home club. Cost of this event is £1000 per table, but in the event that you may not wish to avail of a table a donation of any kind would be very much appreciated.

The charities being supported which were close to Eamon are: Marie Curie Cancer, GOAL, Adoption UK, SMA and Foyle Hospice.

To book a table or make a voluntary contribution you can contact myself on 07875 400 839 or email me on: ronan@moltools.co.uk, or contact Jim Crozier on 07841100141 or email: jimgcrozier@msn.com. Jims address is 246 Shore Road, Magherafelt, Co Derry, BT45 6LH.

Any contributions via cheque can be made out to "Eamon Coleman Memorial Fund"

Many thanks.
