QuoteThey cant be fixed. Turn them into compost.
100%. I remember seeing a Louis Theroux documentary about paedos and the conclusion was that they couldn't be fixed.

"Couldn't be fixed , he says.  Did you hear that, Peter?"

QuoteThe latest wheeze seems to be to reduce the threshold for the 40p and 45p rates thus bringing more people into the higher marginal rate bands while freezing the threshold for the 20p rate, ensuring that as wages rise most people pay more in tax.

I think this will be popular with the public as most people don't know what tax thresholds are and a competent government would spin this as people who earn more pay more.
The rates of tax in the UK are mental.

The UK tax system is bizarre and incredibly complex.  No wonder that the Office of Tax Simplification was closed.
It's deliberately complex so the  plebs  won't understand it

Mach 3 I find best. I don't shave everyday so I get weeks out of  the same razor

I've resorted to shaving while in the shower lately. The heat  of the water softening the skin  Seems to  make it easier. Also   I can't be arsed  frigging about with the  sink and the mess  that that ensues

Frig me but shaving is  a pain in the hole

Yet another U-Turn for this government.

Leaking policy to gauge reaction? Still, seems like they havent a clue in terms of strategy.
Their only strategy is to  cling to power. Just like all the other parasite parties  everywhere . Do whatever it takes

QuoteThat was some result for Ireland but a few things of note.

Ireland are better without the ball.
What I mean by that is that they excel at soaking up the pressure from teams who have the better footballers and counter attacking, getting set pieces and going from there like they did last night.
Ogbene was a willing runner last night and caused Portugal problems throughout until he was totally gassed.

I don't think this team have the players to actually create many chances against "lesser" opposition and that has been their downfall v Armenia etc.

The only thing about the Sunday game is that Hungary will have more possession so Ogbene may need to get his energy levels up again.

Irelands bench is particularly weak.

If Festy is a footballer he hid it well on his cameo last night, Idah isn't suited to running the channels it seems, so unless Ferguson gets fit there's going to be another slaughtering session for Ogbene and Parrot.

Ireland just might steal it, but it will be with very little possession and that suits them.

As for Portugal, the ref has done them a favour as that PSG lad Ramos was far more threatening than Ronaldo even with the ten men.

Martinez seems to think that just throwing on all these really high quality players and that'll work without any real gameplan.

They'll be found out in the WC against the well organised teams.

Yeah totally agree.

There's a whiff of Van Gaal  from Martinez. I remember  LVG throwing on  4 strikers v Ireland in 2001, with nobody out wide to actually  put in a cross for them.

Yeah, that was a poor defeat.

Looking back now, it was a joke of a defeat.
Aremenia missed a sitter to draw against Hungary tonight !

So I heard. That could be the difference.

Plus they got a  late point v Portugal , and Ireland lost a late  point there.

That Idah is one lazy Hoor though. You'd swear he'd  just come off a shift down the mines. More energy in  a pound shop battery.

Seamus Coleman, brilliant.

But they all  did well.

A big performance needed  on Sunday.

The two biggest  weak links for Portugal is  Martinez and Ronaldo. In that order.

Quote from: Last Man on November 13, 2025, 02:51:26 PMIn my own personal experience, on the few occasions that I have felt the need to contact my local SF "representatives" I have been largely ignored. Subsequent to a follow up prompt from me I received a terse 2 line reply. Thought I might contact my local DUP rep with the same query, what a difference. A courteous response within 7 days promising to look into my questions and 2 further letters to keep me updated on progress.
SF are happy enough to show up for a smiley, back slapping photo opportunity but don't be asking them any "awkward" questions.

That's two lines  more than  I got

Maybe they only do work in areas where they  are really fighting for a seat.  A comfortably strong  nationalist  area, no need to do anything . Sure we'll get in anyway . A strong unionist  area with little to no hope of winning a seat , why bother.

Shambles. They continue to be a complete embarrassment to themselves and their voters.

Yes they are an  embarrassment, but  this  sort of thing actually appeals to their knuckledragger voters.   It's all about doing and saying  whatever it takes, to  keep their  cushy numbers and big salary.

So, are their voters embarrassed by their behaviour?  I  seriously doubt it.
But they're dying out. And leeching knuckle draggers to the TUV and normal people to Alliance and UUP.

Their job is to  make sure there's always a steady supply of  bigots  coming through.

Afaic, Bryson was 7/8 when the GFA  was  was signed. What knowledge of the troubles did he  have?  Skeletor Lockhart not much older, yet  they're  as bigoted as they  come.

Now  that the clock is ticking , and the demographics changing,  that is only going to  breed more bigots. Cornered rats , spring to mind.
Bitter f**kers, but again hopefully a dying breed.

There'll always be a section that'll never turn, but the sensible ones will see things like M O'N laying wreathes on remembrance day and realise that theres no nationalist bogeyman out to get them.

I  wouldn't be so sure  about that.

There's always a  nationalist bogeyman out to get them. Sinn Fein, the Irish language  , the GAA, the A5 road, Casement Park,  James McClean, Gerry Adams' rubber duck.....
