GAA Discussion / North American Finals 2019 Virginia
« on: August 27, 2019, 02:57:43 AM »
Just back into the house ! Another finals done. Donegal Boston won senior football beating Young Irelanders in a high scoring final. Random location , but the fields were in great shape. My own club, Setanta won 2 trophies, Junior B football and intermediate football 😎 San Diego is quickly becoming a force in the North American GAA scene.
Some weeks end craic , you bump into so many people that are relatives of good friends and people you’ve seen in years. Great experience

General discussion / LETHAL ALLIES : British Collusion in Ireland
« on: November 18, 2013, 04:42:26 AM »
Just finished this, and tbh , as someone who grew up in east Tyrone in 70s, 80,s and 90,s, this totally blows my mind. There was always a general "acceptance" that collusion existed in our society. But, to see this written down in a book like this really drives it home. Surely the British government has a serious case to answer in light of this book? This is as bad as it gets. The incident regarding The Rock Bar is particularly galling. Prosecutions have to come out of this .

GAA Discussion / Time for Joe to go??

RTE, cannot let this continue. Granted , people will watch him, just too see shite like today's rant. However , indiscriminate attacks on amateur players, who burst there asses on a nightly basis, has no place in the GAA, or on national TV. ZERO analysis of the actual game? He clearly has his own agenda, and as of today should be removed from his role as a pundit

GAA Discussion / If you were laying odds right now?
« on: April 21, 2010, 09:17:13 PM »
here would be my rattle at it ::)

2/1 Cork
3/1 Kerry
6/1 Tyrone
8/1 Mayo
12/1 Dublin
16/1 Galway
20/1 Donegal
20/1 Kildare
20/1 Meath
20/1 Derry
33/1 down
33/1 Armagh
10,000 the field!

I find it interesting that a lot of managers choose to rotate their goalkeepers throughout the National league. But how important is a goalkeeper actually? Is a good one the difference in winning an All Irleand and not? I think most teams goalkeepers are fairly equal, granted of course there are ones better than others, but substantially , no! Does anyone on here think that a team has won or lost an AllIreland due to their goalkeeper? I personally believe a good team will win anyways! :)

Tyrone have scored 6-54 in their first 3 games(24 point av P/G) , with a largely experimental lineup. Although, it is only January and the opposition wasn't the greatest, this is fair pegging ;) Where are all the puke football enthusiasts?

GAA Discussion / Just announced!!!
« on: January 01, 2010, 07:52:28 PM »
It has just been announced, Tir Eoghain are officially the team of the decade, closely followed by Crossmaglen and then there is a considerable gap to the third place finisher Kerry. The news was announced this morning on "Radio hateulster" by the one and only Weeshie Fogarty. Although this was widely regarded as a formality, the decision still doesn't sit well with some ardent Gaa followers and supporters, as they believed Crossmaglens accomplishments more deserving, sure you can't please them all!
Happy New Year

GAA Discussion / Football hall of Fame?
« on: September 03, 2009, 06:04:10 PM »
I have been living here now in the states for over a decade ( love that word ;D), and have become a big follower of most of the american sports. Each one has its own "hall of Fame ", basically an enshrinement that lauds the greats of each respective sport. Most of them has its own "unofficial " entry requirements, e.g Baseballs 3000 hits is regarded as almighty accomplishment, and most of the time is a Guarantee for entry. Also , players need to be retired at least 5 years I believe, to be voted in. What type of guidelines do you think would make you a candidate for A GAA football hall of fame? Discuss, and add some names who you put in, and who you leave out in the rain!

GAA Discussion / AISF Aug 23rd Tyrone v Cork
« on: August 02, 2009, 07:11:38 PM »
Definetely  the clash I wanted to see!. One great team and another possibly on the brink of greatness. Personally I think this could be a classic, Cork won't have faced this level of intensity at any point, wereas Tyrone probably haven't faced such an atheletic force as cork in a long time, should be a cracker! ;)

GAA Discussion / Tyrone v Kildare AIQF official thread!
« on: July 26, 2009, 07:37:40 PM »
All right lads and lassies, have seen Kildare in action 3 times, and they are definetly a much improved outfit. However, I think they are poor at the back and will struggle against a forward line of this class......thoughts?

GAA Discussion / what do you think? who would be favourites?
« on: June 02, 2009, 04:44:17 PM »
Was talking about this the other day with a friend. Should Tyrone and Kerry make it through to the All ireland semi final in august, who would start favs? or even the final should one of them get bounced out of their provincial series? I would have to say I think Tyrone ought to be favs, reason being, Defending champions as well as "owning Kerry" over the last 3 meetings! However , somehow I dont think the bookies would see it this way. Any thoughts?
