Messages - ONeill

Good to see Havertz back and playing. Even in the cameo, he displayed a bit of intelligence.

Lewis-Skelly seems off the boil.

Derry ones are locally called Endogaminians.

A few clubs sniffing around Nwaneri. I see he's not making the matchday squad at the minute. There were always going to be 1-2 decent players left out when all fit.

Quote from: From the Bunker on January 04, 2026, 07:25:10 PMWe live in a Soccer world of expectation and entitlement.

Fueled by a media exploiting knee jerk reactions to results.

Exactly it. The influencers know these type of opinions means views means money. Now papers have cottoned on to it. And now it has spread to everyone. A team can go from 'bottlers' to 'champions' to 'bottlers' in the space of 5 days. That's the world we're in.

And when things go wrong, the board needs to be sacked. I'd never heard of that til the early 00s.

What happens if the board and manager are sacked? Who sacks them and what's left? I'd love to see that vacuum.

Quote from: LCohen on January 03, 2026, 10:02:11 PMIn one sense happy enough with Armagh last night. We were well on top but folded at the end. A lot of changes though. Not massively concerned with that aspect.

On another note I would be more concerned (and not much less concerned if I was a Tyrone supporter). The tactics and approach of both teams, if persisted with to the summer, will win very little (possibly a division 2 title for Tyrone) but nothing serious. Too early in the season to be unduly negative on this point but I'd assume both fans will want to see a development of their attacking approach.

Agree with this. I'd hoped it was a chance for a bit of experimental risk-taking, but it was obvious from Tyrone's first possession that it was more of the same.

The ball will never be landed on top of an isolated FF v FB. That's a pity, especially when the keeper is scrambling back from the 50.

Wonder if there is a time when Arteta wavers on who his starting striker is. At the minute he's 100% so far on Gyokeres. And I suppose it's working in that there are some things he's doing well, and the last match he finally was getting onto the end of things. And then there's the option of changing styles completely with Jesus. And now Havertz will be pushing.

There's just that niggle that Gyokeres should be doing more as a finisher.

What did you call the French striker in 98 who didn't do a pile in the World Cup but because the system worked he kept starting?

Parked in the City Hotel. Armagh is a nice city spoiled by the amount of Armagh people. Had a pint and a cappuccino in Keegan's. Again, far too many Armagh ones to feel safe.

As for the game, noticed you don't have the same beer-bellies post Christmas as you would've had years ago. Or when the league started back in November.

It was a cobweb-shaker and both managers would have been relatively pleased by things they saw. Oisin O'Neill is in some shape. Didn't think he was MOTM though. Canavan and Donnelly instrumental in getting the win.

Couple of weird misses from Dicker last night.
