Things happen, when they put the plan forward they certainly thought they could sustain the numbers all year. I would say you will see a better return this year. I personally would rather have a seperate development league but this is what the county board has decided. User Square_ball typical of the TikTok generation wants everything instant or its no good.
I think there is merit in a development league like the thirds model in Derry. I would say more clubs might enter a development team(s) in a development thirds league independent from Junior football.

Derry have a separate recreational reserve league and knockout for thirds teams. I'm not sure if it's over 35s or not. May have been at one stage

Quote from: Sean Og Patriots on November 10, 2025, 04:38:45 PMVery quiet in here so il say something while I can to put the lid on to next yr.

Loughmacrory creating history and breaking the ice for the so called "upcoming" teams which will no doubt give them an extra inch going into next year, while also now Loughmacrory must deal with the "b2b" pressure. A great year for the parish and a day that will never be forgotten in LMC.

Clonoe may as well go to Croke park now and lift the All Ireland Intermediate Title. Sore on them making them wait to January before collecting it.

Clogher will represent Tyrone this weekend. Be interesting to see how they go. Hope they go the full way along with Clonoe
With Div2 next year this will give them a head start on a lot of teams and will no doubt stand by them next year.

Thanks all for an intriguing club season yet again, hopefully this time next year the young cubs of Domhnach Mor push on.
If its not next year its the year after.

Dream big aim high young bloods.

Joey Clarke for Sam.

If clogher can't bate the Fermanagh junior champions out the gate they may forget about it. The big one is Emyvale. Their first round game v Carndonagh May have been the final

Quote from: DownFanatic on October 27, 2025, 05:03:42 PMWhat were the foundations of this Loughmacrory team? Was it a succession of strong underage teams competing at Grade 1/2 level or a once in a generation side that have come through as a unit?

You'll will be lucky to get any Lough posters for a few days - I see 2 degrees in full swing in the club rooms.

Loughmacrory members can correct me but I can have a stab at it from an outsider looking in at from a close by club.

Generational Crop for sure. Lough had some good footballers in the past and some fairly good teams (an U21 winning team would have been the nucleus of the team for years which managed to get to senior) but had very limited success in Senior Champo however this past 1 or so years they have consistently producing teams that would compete and win in D1 youth.

Community Investment
There facilities are unbelievable - I think they benefited from a £1m grant for that area and now have everything you would need to develop players

Growing Population?
It would appear to me that the population in that area is growing with numerous housing estates popping up over the last decade - people moving to that area for housing.

Club and School Structures
Obviously a club who wins the O'Neill cup for the first time have their house in order but into that there always seemed to be a focus on their primary school. Often saw them photographed with Cumman na Bunscoil titles over the years with current players to the fore. Im not sure what went before in that school but I know that part of the current backroom for Lough is a teacher there and has coached them lads in the area.... ironically with the help of a Carrickmore Stalwart which would make you wonder - has he added to the demise of Carrickmore. :p

My 2 cents!! :)

Congratulations Loughmacrory from an jealous Kildress man! :)

Eoin McElholm mother is also principal of the school
Club have serious influence including board of governors
It's like an academy for the club
One piece of the jigsaw but they all add up

Quote from: Jerome on October 21, 2025, 10:17:45 AMNot sure that's true. Was the only game involving a 3a team: Augher V Tattyreagh

Strabane and Drumragh should have had a game to then play a D2 team. Massive oversight and disrespectful to junior teams.

Agreed

Quote from: trueblue1234 on October 09, 2025, 09:11:30 AMAnyway to give the refs a wee bit of a break, can we have a special mention for Tyrone LGFA. At the minute we have both u16 and u13 girls who haven't played in weeks and are waiting on the Championship starting for the u16s and the semi finals of the blitz for the u13s. When contacted about both we've been told no idea when they will be played and no dates set. This is in the middle of October. It's a total shambles and very unfair on the players. U16 girls haven't had a game in bout 5 weeks and still no sign of the championship starting. Serious change required there.
Holding U16 games till they get the outstanding Senior ladies give finished across three grades. One game in May, One game in June, couple in July, twice a week in August and now still outstanding games in October. League play offs to come after. And for some clubs U16 championship after that - potentially running into December. Serious review needed over that.

Ladies fixtures from youth to Senior a total sh*t show. Total overhaul required. Hopefully the LGFA, GAA and Camogie integration will sort this out? Would be a full time role sorting all fixtures on its own for 3 associations combined

Great work by our County (Drumragh) PRO. The official highlights even have a replay of the wide/point for the avoidance of doubt 😂

Correct. I think Moy at home to Coalisland as 3rd placed team.
Eglish up now as well either as 2nd placed or as championship winner.
Moy home V Coalisland. Loser remains in Intermediate, Winner players Pomeroy in D1/2 Playoff game.

You sure? It used to be top 4 playoff, i.e. top 4 after the league and championship winners. May have changed

Quote from: Delgany 2nds on September 19, 2025, 06:38:30 PMOn reflection, I regret not buying a wee flat ( even a doer up) for my kids when they went to college in UK.
Renting in UK has got so expensive...robbed

£800-£1000 per month in Belfast
Be better of buying them a car but then miss out on the whole experience?

https://www.irishnews.com/news/northern-ireland/norther-ireland-parents-spending-1000-on-student-digs-as-holylands-housing-shortage-bites-MR6JJFV365EJRHZ42CDIMQM5JA/

Anyboy know how much the new student accom. is in Belfast city centre? The ones beside UU.

Were they not built to take the pressure off the Holylands area?  Alhough students probably prefer the Holylands area for the craic.

The young fella was in the Prestige Living one last year across from UU and he was paying £680 per month for 10 months.

I think they can also now let in non students

I've 3 at GCSE & A level, assuming 3 years each up there or elsewhere is £61,200. Feck that I might look into buying something now

How do ya know which college they'll go to?

I said to mine, stay at home and I'll pay you an allowance of £60 a week, use of car free food, continue to work at your part time job.

Nah! Would prefer to strip you of and cash you have please!

Good luck! Rent getting higher now too.

Eldest looking out to live in Belfast with friends, £500 each (3 of them) for a shit hole around the Lisburn rd areas!

The eldest lad has move to a house off Ulsterville Ave, £440 a month each, for three of them.

It's not a bad house to be fair, but that's still serious dough considering I was paying £45 per month for a house in the Holylads back in the early 90's.

My mates Da, sold a nursing home and bought him and his siblings flats in what was then a new development off the Holylands, Fitzwilliam Square I think. He lived in it and rented out rooms to his mates and now his kids are living in it whilst at University.

Probably a good long term investment if you have the dough initially...

A nursing home would have been a solid investment as well. £1000 per week?!
