I wonder how much of this money ends up in the wrong hands?

More than 20 projects aimed at tackling poverty and deprivation are to receive a total of £33m from an executive fund.

The investment was announced by First Minister Peter Robinson and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness. The money is just under half of the £80m available in the Social Investment Fund (SIF), which was announced in March 2011.
The largest single award is £3.3m to an integrated employment programme in west Belfast. Mr Robinson said: "I welcome this £33m investment in projects to deliver the SIF programme.
"An enormous amount of work has been done by steering groups to identify projects that will address the issues affecting the communities that are most in need in each area.
"We are determined to see all £80m of this important fund allocated in the coming months."
The listed projects have been identified as priorities by steering groups in each of the nine social investment zones.
'Improved facilities'

Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness said: "Through the steering groups local people have identified and prioritised the areas of need to ensure the maximum impact of the overall £80m Social Investment Fund.
"This is only the start and I am confident this funding will enable groups to deliver real benefits for people on the ground. "The funding will result in jobs, training and improved facilities for many of the hardest hit areas of our community."
The SIF was established to help communities tackle poverty, deprivation and dereliction, increase services and build pathways to employment.

The first 23 projects to benefit from SIF funding are:

How much has been spent policing loyalists?

Methinks that the british would have preferred that that money was spent dredging rivers in the south of England.

I am confident every penny will be spent wisely on cost-effective, meaningful schemes for the betterment of the people in those areas.  ;)

look there nothing can be done with these people they don't want to work they are benefits street material. Educating them just makes them better at getting funding for pure bullshit like basket weaving. folk can leave the far side of Poland without a word of English arrive here, get work, buy a car, send their kids to school, buy a house and do it without handouts. these crowd on both sides of the political divide just drift from one bullshit scheme to the next. they can always find money for drink and fags but cry poverty all the time..

Your inner Tory is never far from the surface. If it wasnt for many of those you take such a broad swipe at, your party would not be where it is. Ask yourself - are you really supporting the right party?

My opinion on this is that there's potential for it to be a slush fund for SF/DUP to direct money to whoever they want. The solution is to divide the money between the existing departments to target areas of need.

Every time there's a period of rioting a new community centre opens in Belfast! Community centres will ultimately prove to the main legacy of the troubles. This is the long time target to reduce unemployment - eventually every young person in east Belfast will have a job in a local youth centre/community centre.
Who's a bit of a moaning Michael tonight!

Exactly it is the best way for the British government to fund the UDA etc without having to account for it.
