General discussion / BT SPORT
June 18, 2015, 05:20:42 PM
Just seen an email while checking my junk email folder from BT telling me that from the 1st of August they will be charging £5.00 for the privilege of watching champions league football unless I opt out of this.
This really bugs me about these large companies that instead of asking you do you want a service they charge you for it and its up to you to cancel.
I hate this practice with a passion.

General discussion / GAA General discussion Board
March 25, 2015, 08:27:02 PM
Lads i have been a long time reader and contributor to this board for a long time. It was a source of good information and guidance on a range of topics. It was also fun at times with some good laugh out loud moments.
Lately the board has become nothing more than a place for a select few who hijack threads to insult and rile each other.
The general board has become a pain in the ass to read and is being ruined by a handful of posters and if the mods dont do something soon it will kill this discussion board

Rant over

What are peoples views on this one.
A property portfolio built up on debt,
owns the bank 70m euros
doesn't live in this particular property but instead lives in his 8 bedroom mansion in england.
Has brought in the help of the land league organisation to fight his cause.

On one hand u dont want to see any family loose a home but this is no ordinary family.
And then then you have the banks who where givin a second chance with the bail out but the common man will not be afforded the same Helpin hand from the banks.

Its a tough one

As the title suggests why do people think the British establishment hold on to the rights of the north when economically it has no real value to them.

General discussion / Gas Cooker
September 25, 2014, 10:19:50 PM
Guys maybe some of you could help put my mind at ease.
We have a rangemaster cooker which is in over a year now and it is supplied by a small red cylinder of gas. When the cylinder is nearing empty we get a strong smell of gas in the kitchen.
I have read that it may be something to do with a valve that needs the pressure of the gas to keep it sealed and when the gas gets low it leaks.
Can anyone confirm this or is it more serious problem.

General discussion / Visit to the capital
May 30, 2014, 12:51:07 PM
Guys just looking a bit of advice.
I have a hospital appointment in London on the 14th July. I have never been to London before. I was thinking of flying into Heathrow for 9.00am. Google is saying that it will take approx. 1hr 15min to get to the hospital. My appointment is at 1:00 so I have plenty of time to get there. It is the trip home that concerns me. I reckon that I would need to leave the hospital at 4:30 in order to get to the airport for the 7:40pm flight home.
Seeing that this is rush hour is this the latest that I can leave it?
What would be the best way to travel Taxi or Tube. It is the University College Hospital that I have to attend.

General discussion / The cash cow that keeps on giving

I wonder how much of this money ends up in the wrong hands?

More than 20 projects aimed at tackling poverty and deprivation are to receive a total of £33m from an executive fund.

The investment was announced by First Minister Peter Robinson and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness. The money is just under half of the £80m available in the Social Investment Fund (SIF), which was announced in March 2011.
The largest single award is £3.3m to an integrated employment programme in west Belfast. Mr Robinson said: "I welcome this £33m investment in projects to deliver the SIF programme.
"An enormous amount of work has been done by steering groups to identify projects that will address the issues affecting the communities that are most in need in each area.
"We are determined to see all £80m of this important fund allocated in the coming months."
The listed projects have been identified as priorities by steering groups in each of the nine social investment zones.
'Improved facilities'

Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness said: "Through the steering groups local people have identified and prioritised the areas of need to ensure the maximum impact of the overall £80m Social Investment Fund.
"This is only the start and I am confident this funding will enable groups to deliver real benefits for people on the ground. "The funding will result in jobs, training and improved facilities for many of the hardest hit areas of our community."
The SIF was established to help communities tackle poverty, deprivation and dereliction, increase services and build pathways to employment.

The first 23 projects to benefit from SIF funding are:

Belfast North Zone

Employment Fuel Poverty £2m
Childcare and Family Support Cluster £1.9m
Ethical Development Trust £1.5m

Last week on the national radio stations they were giving out the results of the English Cricket team (who pushes the media to report this?). Got me thinking do any other countries around the world report GAA results.
