Bodo/Glimt showing how a club 5 times smaller than Celtic should be run.

In a smaller league, like Scotland.

Get Desmond, Nicholson, Hargreaves and Board out now.

And, now wait for it, he has taken a case against that.

Would Castlerea not be closer to him family in Mayo? Would that not be handier?

BMW X1

Has taken me all over Ireland following Longford. High speed chargers are becoming more and more available. For example, when Longford played Antrim a few weeks ago, I went a bit early and fully charged the car up there while I had my lunch before the match. The full charge cost about €20. A full tank of petheral would have been...........what.......€70?

A lot more than that I'd say. Well, nowadays anyway.

I'd say you'll see mortgage rates going up shortly.

The scenes at end will cover up the serious lack of quality in Celtic. Brutal. Maybe 1 shot on target after 120 mins. Brutal.

Even the recent Jan. signings are very poor and haven't done much. Made no impact today. Artur started but probably wouldn't have if Tierney wasn't injured. That's brutal.  Thinking of playing Maeda, a wideman, up front.

As for the winger that came on in the 2nd half on the left side was brutal. Looking as if he never say a football in his life.

Good heart and guts, as you'd expect under O'Neill but could have played for 3 days and wouldn't have scored.

Keeper seemed to be an upgrade from Schmciel anyway.

Quote from: marty34 on February 22, 2026, 09:12:11 AMBig win for the Treaty men last night in Semple Stadium. Hard to know were Limerick that good or were Tipp that bad? Probably a mixture of both.

Limerick never tested Hogan at all in goals but when you can shoot that number of points, it is some going in them conditions and soft sod. Not sure what it was but Limerick's scoring conversion was high.

Tipp looked flat enough. Connor's sending off sucked the life out of the game and it was like  training game after that. Funny enough that Aidan O'C is on the frees instead of Gillane. I wonder why this is and will it continue on into the season?

Bull O'Brien is so good at ff. Just play him any sort of ball - high or low and he'll not shy away from it. Plus he's so strong. Craig Morgan was literally hanging off him at times but O'Brien just shrugged him off.

Matt F. seems a real good find in defence for Limerick. Showed well last night. Adds a bit of freshness to defence and is similiar to Barry Nash in a way. Byrnes, Tom Morrissey and Reidy all came on in the second half. No Finn or Lynch either. Competition for places is strong.

Strange seeing the Mc Graths playing so early. I thought they'd be doing a 'T.J.' and only playing in last 2 league games - to get ready for championship.

Munster will be another dog fight this year. With O' Connor adding that bit of steel and fire to Cork, the Tipp/Cork game will be savage.

High scoring draw between Dublin and Wexford in Croke Park. Plenty of action there. I thought Dublin would have beaten them but Chin is a solid boost to Wexford. Definately makes a difference.

Kildare just get edged out by Clare. Hard to know if playing in Div. 1A or Div. 1B is more beneficial. Some people say you'll be undercooked in 1B while others say you'll be overcooked in 1A before championship. You could say the two are valid...depending on how your season goes.

But great to see Kildare are pushing on. Maybe a bit over reliant on Naas players. In a year or two, if they bring a few more players on, they'll be moving upwards. They have the population.

It always surprises me that Wicklow aren't doing a 'Kildare' and rising up through the leagues, both in hurling and football. I assume they have a big population bordering south Dublin and Bray is a big town. I think Bray play in the Dublin hurling league - similiar to what Nass did in Kilkenny.

Big day for Antrim and Davy Fitz today. I think it'll be tight but they should edge Carlow. Might be a red card or two as Carlow will not take a backward step and leave thm timber in. Could be their downfall. It's cost them before in crucial games but they're a credit to be so consistent at that level, considering the no. of clubs they have at senior level.

Derry have  50/50 game away in Trim. After a good home win V Mayo, this game will be a good test. Div. 2 is a league of 2 leagues. Monaghan not pushing on in hurling - a bit static but Cavan had a good win over Lancashire. Sligo had a big win over Warickshire...who only acored 3 pts. In saying that I think the NHL needs these 2 English teams in the league as it's an extra game for teams in the third tier. But crtainly they have regressed in recent years. London will always be strong.

I see Andrew La Touche Cosgrave played for Louth yesterday. I remember him playing underage for Limerick. I think it was Limerick? Not sure if it was the minors or their excellent U21 teams. Just that the name stood out.  I wonder did he ever play senior for Limerick? What actually helps these lower level teams is the parent rule, as well as people working/moving to the county. Be good to find the accurate stats for this in the third tier teams.

As an aside, good wins for Antrim and Down camogs yesterday.

Waterford V Tipp game off tomorrow. Michael Kiely's passed away. RIP.

Kilkenny are very average. Only Kenny doing any damage. Galway look as if they have an extra man every time they have possession. KK can't win anything in their own half-forward line. Hanrahan and Ryan looks likes they're tidy operators in defence.

As above, Derry had a poor day out V London at home last week.  Just edged out by Meath the week before but didn't do enough in the 2nd half in Celtic Park Up against it V Westmeath tomorrow. Them and Down could both be relegated - after the hope of coming up last year. Disappointing from an Ulster point of view if it happens.

Funny thing is Cork and Limerick  could meet 4 times this year. Will it happen?  It should be a good battle. O'Connor will have Cork spitting fire. Be interesting to see how it goes. Limerick have a strong team out. A good few lads to come back in for Cork also.

Hopefully we will see him back. Could see him slotting with the other 7 of the 2020 AI Minor team on the panel - some return indeed.
Diamond, Downey, Higgins, McEvoy, McGurk, Murray, O'Donnell.

Thats a tough sell for me there, not sure where he fits personally, I think old rules protected individuals with slightly less football ability. ( Diplomatic?)

Don't see place for him in the back 6 or in the next 5 either. Going off 6 that started at weekend plus Clucky, Mc Evoy, Bradley, Mc Gurk, Mulholland.
O' Mianain another half back option I would think.

I get the importance of building a squad but has to be with right people, and also they need to be from South Derry.

Joking
Fairly harsh, better footballer than most you mentioned

I listened to Irish News podcast a few weeks ago and Cathair O'Kane was praising south Derry clubs for the work they're doing and discussed about how if Derry could harness a few more high quality players from north Derry, that they'd be even stronger. I'd say 90% are from south Derry club - which is a small enough area geographically.

I wonder what the breakdown is of county panels in terms of how many players they have from junior clubs? Be interesting to see I think.

From the 26 man squad on Sunday:
- 25 from South Derry (Baker only ND)
- 24 from Senior Championship
(Murray and Loughlin only two not, both from intermediate)

I'd say his 90% estimate is low.

90% was my estimate.

But the point being it'd be good to find out, just curious, what's the breakdown of players' clubs in terms of senior, intermediate and junior.

I might start a thread on it. Just to compare different counties.

Good point. Who decides what is 'controversial'?

Quote from: Eamonnca1 on March 03, 2026, 07:40:44 PM"Please join me in thanking every American service member who bravely is standing in harm's way. They really are incredible. And I just want to thank you. We have a lot of them right here. Thank you very much. Thank you. Thank you everybody. We have a lot of great service members here with us too in this beautiful building, isn't it beautiful? We're adding on to the building a little bit. We're improving the building. See that nice drape when that comes down, right now, you see a very, very deep hole, but in about a year and a half from now, you're going to see a very, very beautiful building. And there's your entrance to it right there. In fact, it looks so nice. I don't think I'll even -- I think I'll save money on the doors because it can't get more beautiful than that. I picked those drapes in my first term. I always like gold. But I think we can save a lot of money. I just saved -- I just saved curtains. But, uh, and it will be -- it'll be spectacular, be the most beautiful ballroom. I believe it's because I built many a ballroom. I believe it's going to be the most beautiful ballroom anywhere in the world. And when you hear all that hammering out there, you know why the First Lady is not thrilled exactly. She said will the pile drivers ever stop? You know they go from six in the morning till 1130 in the evening. Can you imagine? Hear? You know what, to me that's a beautiful sound, she doesn't like it. I love it. You know what to me other than here because we're donating it not a penny to the taxpayer. It'll be under budget, ahead of schedule. It'll be $400 million or less. Most people say $400 million or more. No, it'll be less. But, uh, when I hear that sound, that beautiful sound behind me, it means money so I like it, but my wife isn't thrilled. She said this is getting crazy. I said, don't worry about it. We'll be all finished up in a few months.

But now for the reason that we're gathered this morning to recognize the unsurpassed courage of three really incredible American heroes, one living and two no longer with us."

Did Trump actually say that?

A lot of players coming out of retirement - Mc Kiernan (Cavan), Mooney (Down) and Michael Murphy (Donegal). Probably add more to that list.

Is it the new rules that's enticing them back - a bit more space and the 2 pointers? That's be true in Mc Kiernan's and Murphy's case for sure.

Quote from: Wildweasel74 on March 01, 2026, 12:03:11 AMHow many are pushing for Armagh, Donegal,Galway,? alot more than that. There men playing for Armagh, Galway and Donegal that had to do 2/3 yrs in the bench before making their mark. We have men getting game time leaving. Learned against Galway 2022, or we should have, that a small panel doesnt cut it.

Point being every county team has a panel of 34 or 35. But the 'real' panel is about 22. I think that the match day named panel is 26?

If you're there for 3 years, even if you're 23 or 24 years old and you're still No. 32 in the pecking order, you should be asking the question of yourself.

Now in my opinion there should be a rule that No.'s 24 - 34 on an inter-county panel ahould be allowed to play club gmes for their clubs. Benefits everyone.
