Armagh 1-24 Monaghan 3-16

Everybody digesting the message from the Armagh county board asking their fans not to wreck the place.

It's Clones. Would you notice?

Quote from: weareros on May 05, 2026, 04:04:50 PMHad Leitrim made the Connacht final, I believe they would have had done what no county had to do in Ulster, Leinster, or Munster - beat a Div 1 team to make their provincial final. Am I wrong in thinking only we had to do that?
Are we counting promoted teams as well? Didn't Westmeath beat Meath?

Quote from: Na Glinntí Glasa on May 05, 2026, 11:08:17 AMThe fact that they told clubs they have to sell them was pathetic.

If you are a small club with small membership and not a large income you value what local resources you have yourself to keep things going. To then ask them to sell tickets that wont potentially generate any income for your own needs is a real stretch, esp considering that they see nor hear nothing in terms of support during the year.

It started as needing each club to sell 24 and now its down to 20.

In the current climate, no one is interested in giving money to our county as results go from bad to worse.

Are these the £12 per month tickets? The email said the club's got 25% I thought. Didn't bother buying any. What happens if a club doesn't sell its quota?

I think he's enjoying it.

Quote from: gallsman on May 04, 2026, 07:03:38 PMThe jeopardy is that if you lose the next game your season is over. It's not complicated.
It's not

Quote from: Derry Optimist on May 04, 2026, 04:54:37 PMIf Derry are to prove themselves worthy of developing into a top class team, they have to be at least  very competitive against a side  of the calibre of  Armagh, whether it is in an Ulster final(which  should have been the case only for reasons already given by many others  but all of which can be easily rectified) or in the first round of the All Ireland series which it now is.

I have no doubt that the management and players have the undoubted capacity and skill levels  to do this and if they do not beat Armagh they definitely have the innate ability and determination to beat any of the other sides in a projected losers group with the possible exception of the losers of the Kerry/Donegal game.

Why do I think that? Anyone who saw last Saturday's game in person, saw how Derry harried their opponents  and fought back with powerful determination and no little skill when things started to go against them. It was their inability to cope with the unfairness of the two pointers system which beat them. This shortcoming can be worked
on with  much better results I feel and they have three weeks to do so. If that happens, this special group of very talented players can bring themselves and us all many happier days.
I'll have some of what you're on.

100% Derry

Quote from: Blowitupref on May 03, 2026, 12:44:38 PMAccording to Cahair O'Kane 27,500 tickets sold for Armagh-Down today, making it the biggest attended Ulster semi-final since the same two counties met in 2008

At least there will be some equality of support, the number of Tyrone and Fermanangh people attending the Armagh games was shocking, especially for a big county like Tyrone who did actually play pretty well.

I think there were some people who spent so much time in traffic in 2008 that they settled in Ballybay. But we all survived.
Tyrones seemed to have deserted their County teams in massive numbers.

A lot of supporters in the county seem to prefer club football these days.
Best club championship in Ireland they say.
