Interesting character; a high-level security and intelligence advisor to Romanian strongman Ceausescu but defected to the CIA when he declined to eliminate an outspoken critic of the dictator's. An enraged Ceausescu put a large contract on his head and supposedly sent Carlos the Jackal after him. His book Red Horizons gives a good insight into the murky world of Communist state-backed security and espionage operations.

The Boy Wonder

Tom Hickey, RIP.
A household name in the 1960s & 70s as Benjy in The Riordans on RTE.
Also one of the leading stage actors in Ireland over the years.
Was featured on TV in recent years - was it on Breaking Ball ?
I remember he spoke about playing football in his native Kildare - not sure if he played underage intercounty.

Very good. Apparently Alan McLoughlin and Noel Gallagher were in the same class in school, and they used to go to Maine Road to watch City play as youngsters, even though McLoughlin was a United fan. Apparently he and Roy Keane were good friends as well.
