Has Rooney had a sniff of goal for the entire tournament?

He's been banging them in in training though!

Even I'd be banging them in, against that defence!

Deadly Dinny!

All this talk about managers and tactics etc is a pile of balls. They've had numerous good managers, with Capello being one of the best coaches around, yet still continually underperform. The bottom line is the players in England don't have the talent and more importantly the balls or the mind for the big occasions. All well and good coasting through an easy qualification group but when the heat is on England will wilt and ultimately beat.

Wouldn't disagree with any of that, they just don't keep the ball well enough to ever win a big tournament.

Lawro kept talking about the Hollywood pass that players like Gerrard and Lampard were trying to hit.  Instead of passing it 5/10 yards and maintaining possession, they were intent on hitting 40/50yard crossfield/diagonal passes that inevitably didn't come off.

Just watched a recording of the game. Feck, England were abysmal in the first half, I was surprised the rte panel did not make one comment about that  in the 1/2 time talk. The only time England had something in midfield was when Rooney dropped in there to receive the pass and lay it off. Capello has not a clue how to organise a midfield or figure out a midfield player who can hold the ball and do what Schweinsteiger does for Germany.  And Schweinsteiger looked like he was doing it at 1/2 pace.
Thank God we got Trap.
Can't comment on the second half as I watched most of it at 6x speed.

Really looking forward to the main event. Argentina and Mexico have turned in classics in the past but Mexico always fall that bit short. Lets see tonight, that Argentina defense might be broken apart a few times.

Looking at this game, England were expecting to be powerhouses at this World Cup ???
