I tried to watch both Crystal Skull and Dial of Destiny and failed both attempts. And I loved all 3 of the previous Indiana Jones films.

Great Franchise, let down very badly by the last two movies.

One of the best. The first 3 were practically perfect so it's hard to understand why you would go back and touch it! The special effects 40 years on were actually worse than in the originals as a lot of the effects would have been physical rather than computer-generated.

First 3 were very different. Loved the second as a kid but watching as an adult didn't particularly enjoy. First is a classic I could rewatch anytime. 3rd is too but a bit more light hearted.

Agreed on the special effects. Physical stunts with clever cutting and camera angles make for a much more realistic experience. CGI leaves nothing to the imagination and usually goes OTT defying physics in trying to wow the audience. Ends up looking a bit ridiculous.

One Battle After Another

Fun, action film. DiCaprio is good as a washed-up, stoned, former leftist terrorist trying to raise his daughter under an assumed identity, but Sean Penn steals the show as a far right colonel out to cover his past tracks as he tries to get accepted for membership in a wealthy, secret, elite white supremacist club. The background stuff is very on topic for what's going on in the US with Trump's immigration round-ups.

Bit disorientating as a film, seemed like 6 or 7 potential movies rough cut together, I'm sure that was a deliberate choice and parts of it work rightly, without Sean Penn's performance it would be the biggest bag of dung you've seen, he was class

Watched Milk over Christmas, decent oul show about gay rights in San Francisco through the 60s and 70s, Sean Penn did a good job of it, plenty in the supporting cast who went to do to good things as well

To me, that's what  films have become. A lot of  films (and actors ) pass me by these days.  Which is why  I tend to go back to  revisit old films rather than watch  the new ones.

It wasn't far off the biggest bag of dung with Penns performance or not.

Exceptionally bad. Don't know how they thought it was a good idea to stretch it to nearly 3 hours also.
