Quote from: tintin25 on June 09, 2026, 09:41:03 AMWon't be watching the video, but always find it worrying that when coming across an incident like this someone's first reaction is to film it

Completely agree.
It's the way of the world now sadly. Can obviously be a good thing as we'd know nothing about that incident beyond there was a stabbing. My

Was a horrific incident in Newry last year of a poor fella killed by a lorry and the very graphic images were being shared on whatsapp, I actually think someone was charged for taking the photos!

I believe the video was taken by a student nurse on her way home from work, so I can't say I blame her for not intervening.

No, but we absolutely should blame her if she took a video and circulated it. There was a tragedy, but there was no need for people to watch a video about it

Quote20k tickets sold already for Galway v Westmeath looks like the home side will be outnumbered in support.

It's now sold out on Ticketmaster. With a capacity of c.26k, I've heard there's an anticipated 15k travelling from Westmeath.

18k trying to cross Galway, yous better leave early or hire a boat from Oranmore

Dublin has had as much rain 1st-5th June as in April and May put together. The forecast suggests the same again next week.
It is a bit like Jan/Feb when the East got the rain instead of the West.

Armagh played league games and the like in Cross' and sometimes Carrickcuppen and used Clones for the Ulster championship where the crowds were bigger. Cross was used for qualifiers, like the one where we beat Donegal. This defeat brought Jimmy McGuinness into DOnegal management, perhaps we should have let them win that day!

Couldn't we have a GAA element, Micheál Burns vs Michael Murphy for instance?

Quote from: trueblue1234 on June 05, 2026, 01:54:40 PMIf neutral venues were being used by all counties then wouldn't be an issue. But if your saying, you get home venue unless your home ground isn't big enough then that does impact sporting integrity as it negatively impacts smaller counties, who are already up against it.

I'm with David.

"smaller" counties like Antrim, Kildare or Louth who have about a million people between them?
The likes of Leitrim, Fermanagh and Carlow have perfectly serviceable grounds.
Counties have periods whereby their main county ground is out of action and alternative grounds are used. Armagh people should be aware of this, seeing how they made an absolute balls of their own county ground redevelopment and were displaced for almost a decade.

Armagh displaced themselves to Clones, when required, which did not exclude anyone. All that is needed is for Louth to behave in a similar responsible way.

Quote from: tbrick18 on June 05, 2026, 10:44:50 AMJust listened to the Boucher interview - that's one of the worst bits of politicking I've heard. Actually laughable.
The UUP is done. Give it 10 years and they'll either have been absorbed into some new party with the DUP or just cease to exist.

Give it 10 years and they might be Fine Gael....

Useless as FG are, if they were offered the UU "team", which ones would they take?

Quote from: David McKeown on June 05, 2026, 11:54:23 AMSeason ticket holders did not automatically get stand tickets for Armagh home league games. There were some available for some games and it was pot luck

Many season ticket holders got stand tickets for all games, I did, and others got stand tickets for most games. Some people chose to go to the shed to be with other non season ticket holders.
It is a question of numbers. The stand holds 5500, when we played Donegal no doubt they brought a goodly number of season ticket holders in addition to our 3000. There are people who should be in the stand in addition to season ticket holders, so everyone cannot fit.

Quote from: David McKeown on June 05, 2026, 11:54:23 AMI assume they were given the choice because sporting integrity was more important than money

So if the GAA had announced at the start of the year that neutral venues would be used, then the competition would have lacked sporting integrity?

Quote from: Rossfan on June 04, 2026, 03:23:39 PMI'd guess Armagh have 4 or 5 times the number of ST holders Louth have and will likely have 75% of the support and noise.
No idea how many Louth would have, Leinster win last year bound to have encouraged a few more to buy? 0 incentives in buying one price wise these days, only advantage is the allocated seating now means you don't need to head in hours before the game

Season ticket holders have been rather shafted in recent years. Between the Antrim fiasco last year and the terrace tickets instead of stand tickets throughout the league I'm surprised they are being given any tickets this year at all.

For home games, Armagh season ticket holders have got stand tickets, insofar as they will fit in. This has not always been true at other venues.

QuoteIt was Louth's choice to make, like Newbridge or nowhere before it I would fully support Louth on this one.

But the real question is why the GAA have allowed them have that choice.

Louth will be putting out the béal bocht about money, while at the same time turning away revenue. Perhaps they should sell virtual tickets to their supporters who would otherwise have been going to this game.

Quote from: maddog on June 04, 2026, 01:06:31 PMThis is what i was thinking, would be typical if it got moved. Louth have every right to their home tie.

I doubt if it will be moved now, rumours or not.

While home ties for provincial finalists made sense, the whole home tie concept for this round was half baked, if they had not ensured sufficient capacity for the venues.

Quote from: Rossfan on June 04, 2026, 10:36:29 AMLouth have been using Inniskeen for their home AI championship games last few years which was OK with the CCCC.

and still would be if they had drawn Cork again, but not if they were playing Monaghan or Armagh.

Quote from: pbat on June 03, 2026, 09:40:20 PMDo the four 2A winners go to one side of the quarter final draw and then play the four come through the other side, or is it a open draw for all 8 teams?
2a winners on one side as far as I know. Avoid repeat pairs so no Kerry Donegal if both through etc

Which increases the chances of Kerry playing the other three, which will hopefully include Armagh.
