Desperately sad news. Had fought the disease for seven years, but continuosly returned. the only girl in a family of 7. A gifted camogie player by all accounts until its onset and a lovely person in a family full of them.

RIP.

Terribly sad news. They must be lovely people as the comments here are exactly what I'd heard about the Meehan's with no exception. Just gut wrenching to think about it. RIP.

Tragic loss especially she being the only girl in such a talented but humble family. It's impossible to imagine how difficult it must have been for her brothers and her boyfriend to have played at such a high standard for their clubs and county over the last few years with Mairead's illness in the background. Speaks volumes about the character of these lads.
