My knees don't agree with running otherwise I'd still be doing a bit.

Triathlons are a big commitment, did one or two a few years back.

Cycling is very dependent on the right gear. Like at the moment I need two sets of light winter clothing. Luckily it's been very mild since November.
When it gets colder this week I'll get out the heavier deep winter clothing. Cold is not good for my training as you cannot get out on the road with ice and I'll have to switch to the turbo (shudder)

You are talking at least 11-12 hrs  per week on the bike to prepare for cycle racing, and then some weeks with 15+ hrs.
Try to fit in 1-2 gym sessions too

Like when Calvert Lewin was "tripped" by TAA who was on the ground in front of him with his back to him a couple of seasons back?
Everton are the only club where a player has been retrospectively given a ban for diving or 'simulation'.

Rim brake bikes work, simple as
There are practically no descents in Ireland where disc brakes are needed

Superb, nearly 10,000 miles in old money. I'd hazard a guess thats more than most drive per year. Do you cycle to work as well or all training/racing?

Agree on the rim brakes, some brilliant frames/bikes up for not too much money.
Commute by bike once a fortnight when it suits.
Mainly training/racing.
The hours needed to train to compete in racing can be ridiculous. Don't think fellas involved in gaa realise the time put in by many club cyclists in Ireland.

Herself loves nothing more than leaving every possible light and  electronic device on as much as possible. Heat on, electric blanket on, hot water on, outside lights on, Christmas tree lights on, tv on. Few token windows left open.
Yes. It vexes me as herself only works part time and I make sure to turn everything off before bed or leaving the house.

Women at work have thermostat turned up to the max - place is like a sauna
Too much heat is not good for comfort or staying alert

Quote from: seafoid on December 20, 2023, 01:15:29 PMOur parents generally only needed one salary/wage to rear a family. The old deal say 15 years ago especially for workers was you won't get a payrise but you can shop in Lidl/Aldi and interest rates will be low for the mortgage and you can buy your clothes in Penneys and it will still look ok. But even Lidl and Aldi prices have been inflated.   Now you need 2 incomes  because the cost of housing is far higher. And now interest rates are higher than 3 years ago so it is not just that houses are more expensve but the cost of servicing them is too. Wages have not kept up with inflation in the vast majority of cases.

Most people are passive and just take it.

173,000 in total since 2011.

I work with 2 guys who went through the process, one an Indian and one an American. You wouldn't meet two more prouder men and both deeply involved in coaching kids in their community in cricket and football. Most of these wasters out protesting don't lift a finger to help anyone, they are just useless fakes and good for nothings.
A lot of free time for protesting and doing sweet feck all else

Haven't Galway clubs won it more often than any other county?

There's hardly a famine out west of club hurling titles

They should have 10 points deducted every season if the last few weeks are anything to go by

Everton have a big shiny new stadium for next season. They won't want to be showing it off to Plymouth Argyle and Stoke City.
