Only about 8 hours to find out. Who tells us anyway?

Just finished mickeys book there - one thing is for certain, its not Armagh, nor Killyclogher.

What reference to Killyclogher does Harte make in his bok.

Gaffer

Harte states in his Irish News column this morning that Kerry are the team of the Decade
"Well ! Well ! Well !  If it ain't the Smoker !!!"

5.7% of the board are having a right laugh (mayo voters) 61.4% got their heads up their arse or are in denial and 32.9% are good sensible people. 5 AI's to 3 why even ask the question? happy new year!

Just occurred to me, should it not be "Who is the team of the decade?"

Should it not be "What is the team of the decade?"

The team of the decade thing was started by some journalists in the south before the 2008 All Ireland final  who couldn't accept Kerry were unable to beat Tyrone. So they thought Kerry were sure to win with the Twin Towers  ::) and Canavan retired.
Of course Tyrone scutted them again and was no word of the team of the decade again until this year's final. It was to diminish Tyrone's achievements. In the 70s it was the great Dublin-Kerry rivalry but no word of team of the decade carry-on or in any other decade. Is contrived bollox from those unable to accept..... Tyrone 3 Kerry 0  ;)

Gnevin

This poll should only have 2 teams listed . I mean who the hell voted for Dublin or Mayo . For the record I think Kerry are the team of the decade. More consistent, more wins , simple choice really .
Anyway, long story short... is a phrase whose origins are complicated and rambling.

Just to reprise an argument we had a number of years ago........

The decade doesn't end until 31st December 2010.

Not the way it works: 1930 was not part of the 'Roaring Twenties', nor 1980 part of the 70s  ;)
