Quote from: illdecide on Today at 09:38:06 AMAs for Armagh game...Armagh will always give you good chances in a game and if you take most of them then you'll be in touching distance, if you fail they'll have a wee spell where they can pull away from you easily and game could be over (this is for the lesser teams BTW). Armagh are very unpredictable and could win by 1-2 pts or 15pts it's all down to the other teams taking the chances Armagh give them in the game.
What we have seen so far in Ulster is the favourite's are getting their balls slapped so hope this is different and Armagh have taken note of the previous weeks, a sending off or lose goal or two and anything can happen but I expect Armagh to win by 5-6pts as they should have too much for Down

not exactly true as we didnt have any issues against Fermanagh

True, but Fermanagh didn't take the early chances we gave them

Klopp is leaving Liverpool far better than he found them. If he had would nothing else apart from the Premier League he would still be considered a legend imo. The fact he won everything there was to win (apart from the Europa League obvs) means he will go down as one of the greatest managers the club has ever had.

Certainly whomever comes in has big boots to fill but they should be given time because it's probably going to take next season at the least to find his feet at such a big club.

Genuinely intrigued that Liverpool fans will hold him in such high esteem, or maybe is it recency bias? He delivered one league title in 9 years?

I get that he is an iconic figure and was box office and even fans of other teams will miss him from the EPL.

You have to look at what he was up against. He has been up against the monster that is city. Up against a club that financially outstripped its competitors in the PL by so much for the duration of his stint. And he still managed to get a title and run them close in another few. Not to mention the champions league.
Given where Liverpool came from, it was an unreal feat. Look at the status of the club now compared to before he came. There is no comparison. IMO at least.

I've always thought Nunez was better coming off the bench, someone to cause a bit of chaos. Saying that he didn't have much impact against Palace last week but even still I think he is someone who is better coming into a game rather than a starter.
Liverpool been very unlucky with Jota missing so many games, probably the closest they have to a natural finisher.
I think they should give a few of the youngsters a game now that the title is gone and top 4 is safe, would like to see more of Danns especially.

Quote from: OgraAnDun on April 22, 2024, 08:21:26 PMArmagh must be worth an each way bet. Likely to be top seeds having had some warm up matches to try systems/squad before the Ulster final against a jaded Donegal or Tyrone. They'll probably not have a better chance of making a semi or a final for a while.
;)

In all seriousness, bar drawing Dublin I'd be very disappointed if we don't make a semi final. Donegal, Tyrone, Kerry, Derry, Galway, Mayo all very good teams but have their flaws, time we pushed on, sick of hard luck stories at the qf stage.

You have a serious chance of making top seed and then a 66% chance of drawing Clare or Louth/Kildare as 2nd seed in your group. Avoid the preliminary quarter final thereafter and you're set up to beat the hard luck stories!
Donegal have to be favourites for Ulster and serious All Ireland contenders after that performance at the weekend.
I Watched Donegal back last night. To say they blew Derry off the field is an understatement.  Probably the biggest shock in football since they bate the dubs in 2014 and yer man was at the helm then also.  Mc Guinness takes a lot of flak but I think he is a strategic genius and he has rebuilt Donegal again. Can they win the all Ireland. Id put them ahead of Derry at the moment who will now suffer from an inferiority complex with the teams who beat them, as they always do..

Quote from: Look-Up! on Today at 11:42:27 AMVVD plays in a vital position. Still has plenty to give and a natural leader. I think it would be too risky to get rid, unless his heart not in it and he wants away himself. Earns 150k less than Salah, who I think is a big problem going forward not only because of his poor form, but he's putting massive upward pressure on future wage negotiations, be that existing contract renewals or new signings.

Bank the Saudi cash for Salah and go for Ivan Toney, seriously rate that lad, he'll get 20 plus a year on a good team.

Salah is bang out of form, there's no doubting that, but Liverpools main assists used to come from wide, TTA and Robertson, TAA injured quite a lot this year and so has Robertson, who's been below par as well.

Carragher has given up on Nunez, seems to think he'll not get any better than what he is now and although his rates of scoring from really good chances is poor, surely that's something that still can be worked on, no?

Gakpo looked a bit better the last few games, probably missed last night, but not complaining..

Great shout on Toney. I don't think you can blame assists because an assist is only an assist if the chance is converted. Creating chances is not a problem for Liverpool.

I'd agree with Carragher. He's had 2 years, he's a 7-10 goals a season striker at best. He's even doing well to maintain that rate in a team where he's getting an embarrassment of chances. People saying he'll come good, or if he could just develop the finishing of Fowler he'd be class etc. You could equally say if Jozy Altidore was hypnotized to believe he was Lionel Messi, the result would be Darwin Nunez.

They hadn't won any league titles in the 30 years previous, 1 in 9 isn't bad considering!
I'm actually genuinely intrigued about how someone couldn't see him as anything other than a success at the club but sure each to their own I'm not here to change anyone's opinion on him.
Liverpool fans will hold him in the highest of esteems and probably won't care what any other fans think.

I was just curious, I know he is a bit of a cult figure. Just wondered if looking back it will be with a bit of regret that it was only one title.

That being said United would take a single title at the moment any season.

Inherited a mess, won the big titles and competed against a nation state. No mean feat.
