There's a few that pop up oo. Social media

The latest one is Andy Malone! Bonkers
He's around a while. Arsehole.
He's the clown with the dyed black hair from Newry? Have seen him. A balloon.

There is more than one of them.

Quote from: Duine Inteacht Eile on December 09, 2025, 07:19:59 PMSmokers are paying a right bit of tax!

I take a pint myself but I think alcohol should be taxed heavily at off licenses / supermarkets.  It is accessed far too easy.

How much less chaotic would A&Es be at the weekend and how much less pressure would the emergency services be under if drink was not as easily affordable especially those who live the working class (work shy) parts of the country.

I appreciate there is still the issue of drugs but if the drink was sorted it would be a starting point.

Must be all calling in on their way home from working a night shift...........some chance.

More like 'work shy' areas as opposed to working class.

Has it occurred to anyone why we have an ever increasing sick population? Have we somehow created a system that incentivizes poor health, for as far as I can see most of this is self inflicted.
Also, how about tackling the systematic waste in the NHS. If something is "free", people can't help themselves but take the piss out of it.
I am for paying a bit less tax but paying for healthcare and medications as an when I need it.

Does not apply to all cases but a significant proportion.

A lot of Mr & Mrs (each 20 stone plus) about pushing a trolley around Tesco's stacked with all of shite of the day.  If not already they and their off spring are / will be clogging up the system now and in the future due to their 'lifestyle'.  It amazes me that in the so call deprived areas of places like Belfast / Derry you have no shortage of takeaways, off-licenses and pharmacists and usually all beside other.

I would have thought they could sell a sizeable chunk of the Jordanstown campus, surely that is worth a few £.

No way in the world that's a Dingle free to start with, could say fouled by Dingle nos. 8 & 12.

Thats a f**king disgrace.

+1 Has to be one of the worst decisions I have seen in a long time.

Quote from: marty34 on December 07, 2025, 11:11:10 AMI think it's all underfunded by the Brits regardless. Historically and now.

The NHS is clearly broke. It's a mess and I woukdn't know where even to start to fix it. How would you even start restructure it?

Education is a mess. Schools having to close because of leaks in the roof. Other schools have mould and damp etc. in classrooms. Mobiles falling apart. Again, how and where do you start to fix that?

Housing is a big issue. Not many houses being built nowadays. House prices are crazy now. Where does that end? Another recession?

Public servants e.g. teachersand nurses etc. all looking for more pay. Where does that stop?

Prices of everything going up....from food to car insurance. When's that going to stop?

I'd stick a £20 fee on going to see a doctor. That would help to cut down on the number of 'no shows'. Trying to get an appointment these days is crazy. People decide to just go to AE and at least, after a huge wait, they'll be seen there.

When you think of the billions that has been sent to support Israel in their genocide campaign in the middle east etc., that could have been better spent on the NHS.

Would people on here be happy to pay water charges for example? Or would here be uproar?

We can't have it every way.

Can't see the metrics around any of these improving in the foreseeable future, dread to think where we will be 5  - 10 years from now.

Our oldest is turning 17 and for the few months until they get their own wagon I was going to add them to my insurance so I can get them out driving a bit.  My car is a basic 1.6 diesel that would hardly be worth £1,000 and has over 200,000 miles.

I appreciate there is no such thing as cheap car insurance but wondering if anyone has any recommendations / good experience when adding an L driver to their own insurance.

I see the guys on Off the Ball reckon Brian Hayes possibly the best dual star in the county at the moment.  Surely Brendan Rodgers and Shane McGuigan would have to be up there, All Stars in football at county level and made the All Ireland Club Hurling All Stars team last year.

No sign of the bubble bursting yet.

House prices now 23% higher than they were the time of the last crash.

I wonder how house prices in the north compare.
Every now and again I take a look on propertypal and houses seem really expensive. a 4 bed detached is a 350k plus and plenty of them well into the 400k mark.

my kids haven't a hope of getting on the ladder.

Average age of the first time buyer in the US is now 40, says it all.
