Leahy knew how to look after himself, but he was primarily a player who relied on skill.

Quote from: Premier Emperor on July 02, 2025, 06:21:59 PMI see the papers have listed some of the people stung by Carey. No mention of Worzel Gummidge otherwise known as John Power.
He was supposed to be out of pocket by a 6 figure sum.

John Power, the farmer also of 80s hurling fame?
Yep, he looked like he'd been dragged backwards through a hedge. Hurled like he was forking silage to cattle.

If only the soft as f**k Tipp teams had lads half as tough as John Power they might have won a bit more.
Because Power was from Kilkenny, he was 'hard'. If he was Tipp, he'd be 'dirty'. Don't worry, we all know this.

The serious blunder was by Kilkenny, letting in four goals and finding themselves 4...3 points behind.  ;D

The most cherished fixture in hurling. The first time we've ever met in the final.
Why bring it to a hurling wasteland like Dublin, it could be played in the home of hurling as a celebration of this unique occasion!

I bet DJ Carey cheats at golf as much as he does in real life!

Today is a great opportunity for Tipp. Cork are now unbackable favourites to win the All Ireland. They'll never be able to control the hype. They'll forget how easily controllable their full forward line is when they meet a proper defence.

People claiming that Tipp aren't ready yet don't understand that when we face our dreaded enemies, our desire to sicken them makes every Tipp player a foot taller and a yard faster.
Every doubt and question raised about Tipp this year has been answered. We're going in today with the hurling world expecting a Kilkenny win and that will allow us play with freedom.

It's been too long since the roof was lifted off Croke Park with the cries of "Tipp, Tipp, Tipp". Today we'll be putting right a lot of wrongs.

Fair play to the Cork supporters who travelled in big numbers to such a non-event.
The 3rd placed out of the Leinster championship vs. the Munster champions will always be a huge mismatch on paper, and today it was a huge mismatch on the field.

Quote from: Joeythelips on July 02, 2025, 06:04:34 PMI also think a good co-commentator is important, for instance Michael Duignan in hurling really adds to it as he spots things going on the commentator is not aware of.
Duignan can never be taken seriously because of his infatuation with Kilkenny during the Cody era.
He was drooling into the microphone at the sight of black and amber.
He hates Tipp and should not be allowed near the commentary box when we're playing.

Paying a pair of fellow skangers to make up yarns didn't work for him.

Big difference between being the studio link with a few scripted questions and the commentator having to think on their feet.
Marty is the worst. Too much old Ireland cliches. I know that west Clare is a half a century behind...

Quote from: DaleCooper on July 01, 2025, 09:23:21 AMDeviancy has always existed but the Internet has really supercharged this. Id say if you were to survey the population at large you'd find fairly terrifying results.

Was going to mention internet. It's opened up some opoortunities for everybody but with that comes the dark side also.
Thankfully Kilkenny Cats, clare hurlers and AFR.com have been shut down!
