how many recipients of the MBE does the GAA have

A great pub  quiz question, that one!

None. Immediate suspension. Game Changer.

I wouldn't be so  sure. I'd say  there's one or two members with  an MBE.

I knew  of two  people in a former life  who had MBE's. I'd  say there was a  good chance  at least  one of them was   a club member.

Former county minor Martin Oneill has an OBE.

There you go then.

Uncle Hugo has  some sort of -BE.  He could  well be a club member.

They live amongst us ....

Reports are that Huntly has  been left  blind and not expected to  survive attack.

Just seen a  filling station at £1.69 and another at £1.45 in the same area

What the frig is going  on there?

Newcastle 2 Man Utd 3

Howe will edge  closer to the trapdoor and Carrick closer to a big contract

Would it be the case   that if the GAA broke the Allianz contract, it would have cost an absolute fortune? Maybe even more  than the annual GAA  income?

If Jarlath had said something like  this  , I'm sure  most people would have  understood the predicament.  We've only a year left , and when it's up, we won't be renewing, etc etc.....

Jarlath's tone and speeches  on this isn't helping him.  It's such a shame. I like Jarlath,  but his  presidency and legacy will be forever tainted by this (and RG).

Quote from: GoldCoastRossie on March 04, 2026, 04:48:21 PMWith no one wanting a league final maybe give the team that finished first in each division, a home final and allow the county to keep 80% of the gate or some other split and you might get a decent crowd at the game and a bit of local excitement.

I think  the problem is  more  to do with potentially having  a championship match 7 days after a league final , rather than not wanting  to win the league at all.

Armagh and Tyrone play  in the preliminary round in Ulster . If either  qualified for  a league final ,  I wouldn't imagine they'd go like  mad to win it,  even if it was  in front of their own fans. The championship game (potentially) a week  later would be of more importance

I  think it's probably more   a case of people buying oil now rather than risk waiting for it to go to astronomical prices in a couple of weeks

Better paying a couple hundred more  now, than 600 or 700  more later on

Feck knows how long  this  shite will go on for

Is that the  bellend  who went to Tel Aviv  to take part  in a marathon, and  is now stuck there?

Luckily I topped up  the  tank  to near full last week

I'd say the diesel and  petrol will be up as well

Topped up my tank last week 300 litres for 300€, checked today to see how much 300 litres is,  400€ and expected to rise further.  Middle East war with a clown of American president getting involved has played no small part in that.

500 litres  was £300, today it's reported to be £475 in  some places.

It will probably  only get higher

Quote from: blanketattack on March 03, 2026, 01:40:00 PMDiv 1 shouldn't have a final and maybe not 2 either.
Playing in Croke Park hardly a novelty for Div 1 teams.
Give Div 3 and 4 teams their day out.

Deciding the winners  on who finishes top of the table , you'd need a helicopter in Athlone , ready to fly the trophy to  wherever was needed

If I recall , last year was very tight.  Donegal missed a late  pen v Mayo. Had they scored , they'd have reached the Div 1 final, and Mayo relegated.  Instead, Donegal missed, and  Mayo made the league final!

The league final has been  hugely devalued in recent years. The league is a great competition, very competitive, but few  Div 1 teams want to  actually win it. The  occasion of the NFL final was massive  in the 80's/90's. Such a shame.

Starmer said the US couldn't use  British airfields to launch  attacks in Iran , then said they could  do  but  only for  "defensive strikes".

How does that work then?

Mad to think United are third after such a  poor season.

4 or 5 Carrick wins  was all it took.

Chelsea Liverpool Villa Newcastle have all had disappointing seasons so  it's more to  do with that that United are currently third
