And any more  bands/singer suggestions?

Handy list of who have been done already?

Apologies if already covered.

Van Morrison was   mentioned before, so I'll add him to  the list.

Quote from: Truthsayer on March 09, 2026, 10:34:11 PMLittle wonder the pundits have become more box office than the players. That was atrocious. And the Premiership has become unwatchable.
Does he actually collect a week's wages after that?

That's true.

I can't hack  the PL these days. I would usually  record MOTM and just fast forward to see the goals.

QuoteMight announce a cut in fuel duty although Labor seem hard to get anything out of.

G7 meeting now to discuss whether to release their storage reserves to help reduce prices and just as I type this they're not dipping into the reserves
Apparently the big jump is yet to come.

Tough times ahead.
Well, there is a war  to pay for

I've had a few blips myself but feel embarrassed posting anything when you see what others (Ballhopper) have went through or are currently going through.

Fair play BH

Youve been through the  mill but your positivity  is fantastic. Wishing you  years of  good health

Illdecide - fire away.  We're all affected by something, bits creaking  or  falling off.....and  if it helps you and others to write about it , go ahead.

Read an article yesterday about a journalist who  interviewed him.  Couple of things didn't seem right  about what Huntly  said . It  was him who sussed it out

Huntly said he  had taken the dog for a walk, and was washing it front of house, when he met the  girls walked  by. He said the girls only  asked about  the girlfriend (who was their teaching asst). He found it strange two little girls would see a man washing a big fluffy dog , and not   mention  it or ask it's name etc.

Second thing was  he said was he  knew how the girls would react  if they came across a  person  who  tried to kidnap them.  But he  wasn't at their school, didn't know the girls' character , so why would he have known this .

Journalist  knew things didn't add up , and  phoned the  police, and he was arrested.

There was reports in loads of places  around Britain  and Ireland The girlfriend was  being  relocated. Heard Coleraine  mentioned once. Surely wherever  she is , she'd be recognised with a new haircut  or glasses. She'd need a bit  of surgery to hide in the shadows.

Seamie should get  himself a hobby. Knife  juggling,  blindfold tightrope walking or something.

How that tube gets  anything done is beyond me. Can't be good for the old blood pressure being  in a constant state of  sectarian bitter outrage

Womens GAA  dont get  great crowds. Seen some match highlights lately, where there's only a  few dozen , or  on other occasions,  maybe only a man in an Offaly jersey behind  the goals

QuoteOn this day 60 years ago, the IRA blew up Nelson's column on O'Connell Street, Dublin. 8th March 1966.
This song by 'The Go Lucky Four', celebrating that event, was number 1 in the Irish charts for 8 weeks.
The Dubliners also had a song about it.

Strange that a British figure stood in the Main Street  of the Irish capital  for near 50 years after the Brits left. If it hadn't been blown up ,   it  could well still be standing there
Not really. The plan was always to remove him but keep the column. The argument was over who to replace him with.

Was there  realistic plans at  that time to replace him though?

They were taking their time  about it, if there was!

One problem yes and to prove Murder or murders is wrong is execution the right way to go about it?

The hardest of hard labour for evil people like Huntley and life should be life in prison, had Huntley lived he would have got out of prison before he was 70.
Is no chance he would have been released. Would have gone to parole board and a whole life order imposed in such a high profile henious crimes.
Same as the likes of Peter Sutcliffe (The Yorkshire Ripper) where trial judge recommended that he should serve at least 30 years in prison before being considered for parole. This was later changed to full life.

I remember reading about Myra Hindley , who had served 20 odd years at the time, and the decision  to grant her parole  lay with the  government minister in charge of such. Basically, each minister kept kicking the can down the road , saying  a decision like that  wouldn't be made for another 3-4 years. Each minister didn't want to be the one making the decision, so they just threw that  hot potato to the next in line, who  repeated the same line.

The backlash a minister (and government ) would have got  over granting  someone like Hindley parole would have  caused national uproar. So, really,  it seemed to be   a PR thing rather than  her being fit to rejoin society. Not sure who has the final say nowadays , but Huntley  might  have been the same, had he reached  the end of his 35-40 years  in prison.

Quote from: quit yo jibbajabba on March 07, 2026, 10:38:30 AMHuntley now dead. Be no tears shed. The boy who done it will now be a great chap even though he's a triple murderer including a pregnant woman. Life's funny like that

All the reports on his death has "high security prison" in their articles.  How secure was it really when that was the 3rd attempt at his death where they finally succeeded.  Given the horrible crimes he committed I wonder did the Prison officers turn a blind eye to the attacks on Huntley?

Statements coming out about  they will look into  how this happened,  blah blah . How much of an  investigation will really happen?  Very little, I'd imagine .

I'd say it  took extra resources to keep him  protected from other prisoners, probably putting prison staff at risk  too.

Convenient for everyone he's gone , I suppose. He's no longer costing a fortune to keep  imprisoned,  very few  will miss  or mourn him , and the  man who  attacked him would  likely  have been  in prison for life anyway.

His sentence is now over , but the families of those two little girls are still  serving  a different sort of life sentences.
