Result is all that mattered tonight. Super first half, terrible second. Daizen lost the head a few times towards the end of the match, not like him.

SaffronSports

Actually very similar to the game at the weekend. Dominant first half with nothing to show for it but got over the line. Delighted to still be in Europe and hopefully works out we get someone we can be competitive against.

Result was all that matters. Be some party in Birmingham next Wednesday!

Idah did well for the goal. Forwards have to make their own luck.

What happens to the team that lose the play offs? Do they drop in europa league?

Out. No dropping into other competition now.

I said before the match I'd take a 1 nil win and I'm delighted we got a bit of luck in the end. YB actually had a horrible fixture list in the CL that Celtic would have struggled with and with only pride to play for were always going to be a tough one to crack. Good to see a bit of urgency out of them for the last 5 mins all the same!

The transfer rumour mill is in overdrive with talk of Kyogo wanting out and a £12m move to France on the cards. It would be daft to sell now unless there's a ready replacement lined up which I doubt there is. £12m not to be sniffed at all the same.

SaffronSports

Kyogo a done deal. Definitely need a replacement.

Makes no sense unless there is a quality champions league eligible replacement in waiting that will be announced in tandem

I see Tierney made a cameo for Arsenal last night, Arteta wouldn't be that much of a pedant that he'd cup tie Tierney in case Arsenal and Celtic meet in the knock outs? Sums up his treatment of Tierney if so

Celtic have achieved the goal of reaching the Knock out stages of the CL. Kyogo deal was kept quiet until this was achieved. I do hope Kyogo money is to fund a decent signing .... as in someone better than Kyogo.

SaffronSports

Don't think there's any "Kyogo money". Pretty much a swap, Kyogo for Jota. Any replacement will have to be funded elsewhere.

Celic have got at least £38m from this years CL.

Getting £8.5m is good for Kyogo, who coast only £1.5m plus he's 30.

The timing would be the issue. At acrucial time with nobody ready to come in. This would be typical Lawell. Surely they must have somebody lined up but as it's Celtic, it wouldn't surprise me that they leave it to the final minutes.

Jota coming back for £8.5 also with 10% sell on fee. Hopefully it works out but I'm not sure.

Tierney will probably not come in now to the summer with him getting a few appearances for Arsenal this past few weeks.

BR needs to pull a rabbit out of the hat to replace Kyogo or the season will end with a whimper, it'll be minus craic watching Idah toil up top in a European knockout game against any halfway decent team, and they should all be halfway decent or considerably better from here on in, they've a punchers chance against a lot of teams in the CL with the Parkhead atmosphere and reasonable away showings of late

SaffronSports

The only thing I can think of if there is no replacement striker is Maeda plays central with Kuhn and Jota wide. Maeda has played that role well for Japan.

My take on it is i'm sorry to see Kyogo go but I'm following Celtic long enough to know majority of good players have a 2-3 year shelf life at Celtic and then they're moved on, I did think because Kyogo hit 30 a few days ago he'd maybe lose his value and we'd have him for another 2-3 years but that's the way it goes. Great players come and go and that's life, getting Jotta in a swap is ok with KT coming in as well and potentially that Danish Mathias Kvistgaarden who Celtic have been tracking for quite a while.
I have also heard this morning that BR is after Evan Ferguson from Brighton so that's one who I think could kick start his career in Scotland, BR could get him going again even if it was on loan until the summer. Celtic do seem to be a bit busier this January than normal which is usually a tough time to do business but my take on that is we will have to qualify for next seasons CL and if we can get the players in early and have them ready for qualifiers then at least they're planning for it.
