TopMarks has himself worked up into a wee tizzy. His posts start and Mid June were all positive and all going the right way, players buying in, just need a few forwards blah blah...wondering if they could be competitive against Dublin...which Derry were...and any right thinking person might conclude that Paddy Tally was getting to grips with things, three much improved performances on the trot...(Despite a host of injuries and unavailability).

Now Bannsides talking dung....lol.

Paddy Tally has to be up there with some of the best in the business. Take Mc Kindless and those others out of the equation and any manager would have struggled. There's no doubt Derry pulled out a few superb championship performances despite not quite making it across the winning line, more than enough to suggest he was getting to grips with things.

What's the odds on Tony McEntee with McKeague bolted onto the ticket? Would Derry supporters see that as an upgrade?

I would be shocked if it's not Rory Gallagher. Odds on in my book, this has most likely been cooking for months.

Which would be extremely harsh on Paddy Tally who most definitely got a proper tune out of you in the last few matches and looked to have molded something very solid to build on.

The "county" is not looking for anyone.

The "county" has allocated this task to the clubs (its members) to give everyone a chance of recommending a suitable candidate for the position.

That I imagine includes most on here.

The "county" has not currently designated this role to anyone, including previous treasurers.

Now is the time for you or your club to be proactive, until next Friday when that shuts down.

In the usual absence of any club activity at all, it is likely a few people will be tasked with going out and having conversations.

Ps, the county is your county, not someone elses.

Notices have been sent you all clubs offering them the opportunity to nominate a new county manager.
Nominations need to be forwarded by your club secretary before midnight on Friday 18thJuly.

Now is the chance to be proactive folks.

I've never heard of any acrimony that exists between the clubs or the players. Genuinely cannot recall a flare up of any kind between them either, at any time.
Dosent mean you wouldn't love to beat them, but that's a back handed compliment to Cargin because of their superiority over a long period of time.

Will it happen in 2025, lol..

Personally I would be delighted if Fergal OKane Shane Delargy and Niall McKeever turned up for training. All three can win their own ball, but in the meantime I respect their own right to make their own decisions.

Conor McGhee and Ronan Delargy would also help in that regard, both out injured atm.

But every club has players missing injured or unavailable, so this is not unique. It's still mid June, a bit early to be judging too harshly.

Take Your Mark, I'm not going to be getting worked up about a game I had no big expectation of, no matter who was playing or wasn't playing.

Anything happening in Mid June is too early to be concerned about what might happen in August or September.

And I emphasise the word "might", because you need a strong panel to win anything, and at the minute we look a bit light.

That 1 might sting a little bit more than your average league defeat Bannside as it seemed to me you were going all guns blazing at a fairly scarce looking Cargin team and managed to throw a 6 point lead.


Just for balance, Cargin played with 10 of their county final starters. Casements played with 9.
Two sides to every story...

Cargin get a goal from what many thought was a foul and a free out on Daniel McNicholl. Ball spilled and it's in the back of the net. A few mins later we miss a one on one, inches wide. 6 pt turnaround.

Small margins lads, no sour grapes here, as I say it wasn't any kind of priority.

I'm personally not judging PG1 on league performance because that hasn't been a priority. I've alluded to that numerous times this year, so 5th/6th...we are cool with that.

To my eye Creggan looked strong when we played them last week. Big and physical in right places. They're definitely in the mix and well ahead of us atm, and they're  not the only ones.

Casements are much lighter than last year, that would worry me. Some of their best ball winners in the county final are not around, for different reasons. So I'd worry about that part of their game.

Cargin deserved their win, another league in the bag, well done.

5th /6th in league okay with most of us.

Big question is what will management find from here in the next few months. That's the challenge for JMK and in fact for most managers.

We are talking about Belfast schools combining for the purposes of team training and preparation for Ulster College fixtures.

What they do to sustain that after the competition is over I haven't a clue. Go back to their clubs and county development squads I assume..

What do you propose?

A sub committee was set up yo oversee the amalgamation project to allow a Belfast school collective to enter Colleges football.

Some of the people in that are well tuned in to be fair, mostly from the secondary/grammar school sector.

Paddy Kelly was instrumental in this, a man who has knocked his pan in trying to get something worthwhile kickstarted.

As far as I know it was an honorary appointment, with no remit or terms of engagement. That wasn't necessarily Gearoids fault to be fair.

But that is exactly what is needed. A director of football with an active and vibrant  sub committee overseeing everything from minor to senior.

I think this is now singularity the biggest priority in town, but....why do I get a feeling many in our current administration would be anti this??
